  • What Tesla haters (that is 90% of people on Reddit and 80% of this sub) love to forget, is the MARGIN. The more ev Tesla competitors sell, the more money they LOSE. That’s why most legacy dealerships never push for EVs but try to trick people into buying more profitable hybrids or full ICEs cars. Tesla (and chinese brands) are the only car makers that make money selling EVs. This could have changed years ago IF old automakers planned things better. But they have no real vision for the future, have to deal with dealerships, unions and a extremely outdated factories. Look at GM: its value has not changed in the 10 years Mary Barra (the one who LEADS) has been its CEO.

  • Medias are paid by oil makers and automakers. The formers always hated EVs, the latters tried to sell theirs and then realized they would have just lost money doing so, and now are reverting to ICEs and hybrids. The result is an anti-ev campaing being paid by all the major sponsor of traditional media. Fake, old and twisted informations about EVs are constantly spread all over internet, papers and tv shows. Here in Italy most people thinks that “lobbies” pushed for the EV agenda to force people to buy new, impossibly expensive EVs, just to make people poorer (just saying…)

  • Everyone else laughed at Tesla first. Then kept watching their slow growth, often laughing (but softer). Then Model3 came out and they panicked and started trying to catch up a 10 year advantage Tesla has almost kept intact to date.
Also: Rivian, Tesla and other EV only manufacturers have not the problems to convert existing, outdated and often unusable factories to EV production, nor have the burden of dealerships. Finally, Tesla doesn’t outsource almost anything. This means that they can improve their cars every week, and adapt to any change they must introduce. When Ford has an outsourced piece of hardware coming from China being replaced with a different one, the time they need to adapt their car software can be much much longer than the time Tesla need to do the same with an in-house item
