  • While I think there needs to be alternatives I suspect a lot of people will be disappointed as many developers don’t alter pricing at all and we are going to see some really scummy behavior by some going forward.

I am a very infrequent user of the app store as is and we have always had freedom on the Mac platform and that just meant mostly other stores with their own embedded fee structure along with having to guess if a site and developer were trustworthy.

So we may just end up in a situation where we have a few large trusted app stores and still have to pay them all.

  • I live in Georgia and have zero issue paying the two hundred odd dollars to drive my EV. Sorry, man up. Many of us were given seventy five hundred dollars from the tax payers to assist in buying our cars so that two hundred plus per year thirty seven years to go back into another government coffer.

It is part of being on the leading edge of a change to society. EVs cost more and frankly anyone who can afford the EV can afford the piddly two hundred dollars.

So it is not an additional fee. Is it high relative to the overall gas tax in Georgia, possibly, depends on how many miles you drive each year.

  • So Lotus branded charging station equipment. Given the success Tesla has with spreading their name through their charging solution I am not surprised others would jump on the band wagon. Mercedes made some recent moves in this direction as well.

The down side is they need to insure their solution is a robust as can be else they will damage their brand. As for why Lotus is going this direction, perhaps they just cannot compete in the global EV market and stand out from the rest?

  • given the low profit and sales what did anyone expect? spending over a million dollars and agreeing to no haggle pricing when the average profit on a Mach E, it has been stated it may be lower than five percent per sale and most of that from the manufacturer.

So if they clear two to three thousand dollars on the sale of one Mach E the pay back is… well, never. I am not even counting the investment in training sales persons who may just be gone in less than a year.

Ford cannot make the vehicle at a profit so it had to extract some of the costs from the dealers. Ford has around three thousand dealers in the US and their total sales was 1.8m - which means the average is six hundred per dealer but its obvious many dealers are small town types who might do half that at best.

The numbers were never going to support a large number of dealerships going forward and we will end up seeing the smaller local stores lost to the big super stores and that may not be a desirable outcome.

  • The issue here is far too many e bikes are disposable and treated as such. far too many brands have no interchangeability let alone an easy method to get the right parts to do repairs with. there is a lot of cross over with electric scooters as well, remember all those stories of cities trying to clean up the mess they made and the hazards from riders?

The market needs to be more heavily regulated to insure interoperability and availability of parts. then comes the education of riders because without adequate head protection they are a fatality waiting to happen.

  • mail on Mac is a random shit show where its own unread count feature cannot be counted upon or worse a smart mailbox whose only filter is, messages not read, clearly shows messages that have been read.

and then every update my auto complete for addresses decides a new email address is the one I want even though I have not used it in years.

  • the new “people’s car” … doesn’t have to have the long range of traditional automobiles but ideally it should be close to 200 miles of range and just a no frills comfortable ride that does not feel cheap.

We just have to agree on what no frills is.

Outside of power windows and locks everything else can be manual with at most some control over wiper speed. heck to keep costs down no controls need to be replicated to the steering wheel and the screen provided can simply access Apple Car Play or Android Auto to provide anything more than current media playing and status of the car. There would likely be a simple cruise control option but given current safety kicks TACC is not out of the question

I put power windows and locks in there because its just cheaper to use them than not as it is such common hardware and saves packaging space as well.

options would cover all those other features people like to add on like power and heated seats, automatic climate control, and more.

  • tl;dr it is their choice and believe someone probably doesn’t like what I or you drive either. Be happy and drive. For me I love see an assortment of vehicles while driving and challenge myself to know more about each; its not like I will know squat about the driver.

I really do not understand this subs hate towards pickup trucks. As a whole its not likely we know all the uses someone we see during a commute or just running errands a driver has of the vehicle. To be frank, why should a sports car, super car, large suv, or similar, get a pass. What is the criteria used to automatically call out a pickup driver and give everyone else a pass? It just is personal choice and I am glad that most if not all here get to make that choice in their lives. Drive a two seat sports car or pickup is all the same to me but I suspect the pickup can actually be employed for other uses; heck I still borrow my father’s truck on occasion.

Nothing I said about does not make the claim that some people only have them as “pavement princesses” but I know more than a few owners of sports cars to include exotics who have never tracked them and lets not start on people with vehicles sold with solid off road capacity never doing more than Starbucks runs.
