VW CEO: $22K ev is of course possible, not 2025, but now, and it is an id3, but only in China! /s
This isn’t even sarcasm lol. It’s probably true
They can’t even build $22k ICE cars anymore. And they can build an EV?
Under the hood it’s not even electric and the whole thing was a lie to pretend like it’s not filling the atmosphere with harmful emissions.
Hmmm This from a company that drove its pro EV leader out and is now reducing its EV output …
Perfect! That’s right around the time I’ll be financially ready to trade in my 2011 ICE vehicle for an EV
It’s possible to make one now, with a small battery. So the measure of this 2025 vehicle will be down to the size of the battery, if it’s 70kWh or more it will be impressive.
It’s possible now.
Will VW get the 22k EV by 2025 or Toyota SSB ?
SSB.
I test drove the ID.4 this weekend. Pro trim, sticker around $50k. Plastic door panels, manual seats, no sunroof, manual lift gate.
Can’t wait to see what the $22k car looks like. Cardboard?
Tesla does a great job of including all the features on every trim. People are sick of traditional manufacturer games where you need to spend thousands more to step up a trim line to get something basic such as power seats
Honestly best reason to go Tesla I don’t have to spend hours researching which trim gets what. Sometimes the top trim doesn’t have everything there’s additional add ons.
But no USS sucks. Really not excusable.
Manual seats, no sunroof, manual lift gate… Sounds like a bunch of pluses to me
LOL. Right…
Wasn’t that the base price of a Chevy Bolt like 5 years ago?
I mean I guess, if you count a 7500 tax credit. IIRC it was just under $30k heavily discounted after the fire scare
This is great, but I would prefer if VW release the Buzz already in NA!!!
plot twist: it’s a used 2016 e-golf
More accurately, it’ll be a Pre-owned ID.4 I got a Pro S with Gradient trim earlier this year for a hair under $30k. With an original retail of almost $50k,I have a hunch that ID.4s will reach that attainable price in short time.
I have a 2019 eGolf. If they produce a new version with the only improvments being larger battery capacity, heat pump, and better remote interface, I’d 100% jump on it.
Yea it’s because cost for lithium and other core materials is dropping, hence why Tesla is also looking at a minimalistic entry level EV
There are EVs cheaper than this being manufactured and sold in China today. It’s already possible
