Grab a tow rope or two and hook up a few of them together.
If they are ignorant in parking like this … chances are they will never notice that a tow rope is attached to that hitch.
It’d be fun to watch them take off and make a mess pulling a truck after leading 30 feet of tow rope.
I love where your head is at
I don’t know why this was also my exact same first thought
It would be much less dangerous and more ethical to just steal all the hitches. It looks like only a couple of them are locked, but they’re combination bike locks which should be easy to bypass if the core is exposed through the cylinder.
You have a funny idea of ethics, I’ll tell you that.
Somebody could be injured or die between vehicles if trucks pull each other in a crowded lot or wires/rope/straps suddenly become tensioned. Somebody could also be injured by walking into these, or it could damage another vehicle. Ethics and morality are a spectrum, one bad can be more good than another.
Why do so many people in Alberta have those big trucks when they do not need them. No wonder why they have highest emissions per capita in the nation.
It kind of gains momentum. My mom is someone who got a smaller truck after her big one. Not even a car, just a smaller truck. And she feels a bit vulnerable on the road. And a lot of these idiots will merge into you and kill you because you’re in a smaller vehicle
So basically, a lot of people who should NOT be driving have huge trucks and other people get huge trucks so they don’t feel like they may get killed by an idiot
I swear, if all of this province had regular tests every 5 years, most Albertans would be forbidden from driving
Yeah there really needs to be some laws curtailing the size of these useless abominations. Or make it so there are extra driving tests you need to take before buying one because it’s way too large and the ones that usually buy them are the not-so-intelligent crowd.
Only thing worse is those motor homes, some you need a “Q” air endorsement for the brakes, but that’s it.
Part of it is the rig jobs give you a bonus to buy a truck to get to rig sites. They don’t account for all the trucks, but a good portion.
I have a truck myself, instead of a car and needing to a rent truck/trailer weekly for my work. It’s big enough for my kids and to haul most of my work stuff.
Source on the emissions? Thanks.
Edit Found a source Alberta is 5th even with the oil and gas industry tipping the scales their way.
I’m not saying you don’t need the truck (only you know your needs), but I can haul quite a lot with my hatchback + utility trailer. Trucks aren’t the only tow-capable vehicle out there these days, modern 4 bangers are quite powerful
The biggest upside to a truck is that the bed is outside. It’s perfect for wet, stinky, unsanitary, powdery/sandy, etc can cause huge headaches in a van or hatchback, and doesn’t require you to pull a trailer which can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. It’s like the multitool of vehicles: bulky, not the best for any given job, but capable of doing almost anything.
Yes there are a lot of people who get them for stuff that can be grabbed with a car more or less. 6 bags of concrete and some 2x4s can easily be gotten in a car infrequently.
And yes I likely could make a car/trailer work, but some sites are off-roading more or less. So even if you’re a lackey, sometimes the site just requires more than a car and other options than a truck aren’t as practicable or convenient.
Yeah every could go and a rent truck 3 times a week. But that’s just silly after a point, and yeah sure there is sometimes you don’t need it for 2 months as well. That’s reality.
Its not just Alberta

See those hitches? That means they are using them.
#2 and #3 from the front show zero visible signs of wear.
The moronic thought process is less damage will be done to their vehicle when it hits the tow ball, and it’ll do more damage to the vehicle that hit them. Since they deserve it for hitting them.
No, that’s rust on the first one. Once the paint is gone they go rust dark within a day after use
Someone’s not thinking. The removable hitch mounts into a steel receiver, made out of the same material and mount below the bumper. Does exactly the same damage 6 inches further away.
Yep, but that’s also 6 more inches to get through until the bumper. The problem being it removes the crumple zone the bumper has and makes the force entirely in your frame instead. It will also almost always hit the radiator of the vehicle hitting them doing significant damage.
They leave it there as assholes, while also not actually protecting their own vehicle, other than cosmetically, they’ll do more structural damage instead.
Hence the moron part.

It still has to travel through 6” of towball before hitting the bumper, so it saves that cosmetic damage.
The hell is with the insults?
Edit, oh you’re on of those people that think the tow ball protects your truck from damage, which it doesn’t. Hence you thinking I was insulting you in my original comment.
So a better example would be, you would get damaged if the vehicle stopped 2” short of your bumper, since you have something g attached to your frame sticking 6”. Does that makes sense to you now? I can provide a picture to show the differences with and without a towball on a bumper.

Hey now. Alberta has a ton of morons, and slightly more than their fair share of assholes. But Hanlon’s razor* still applies. I don’t think anybody put a hitch on their truck with the express intent of causing harm somewhere. They are more likely just stupid and/or lazy.
* “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
In other words: some bad things happen not because of people having bad intentions, but because they did not think it through properly. Or at all.
No… I’ve had truck owners ask me why I don’t leave mine on to protect my truck or make it worse for others. I just roll my eyes and walk away, because you can’t reason with them, like what’s happening in the comment chain here.
Also comes down to monkey see monkey do too I find.
Fair enough. I lived there long enough to know that some of them definitely did it purely out of spite, I just can’t imagine it is a majority.
When I lived in Edmonton my neighbour once asked why I remove my hitch when not using it. Such a weird question.
I don’t think it’s a weird question at all. But also in some places it’s actually not legal to leave it attached when not towing. Then there’s the argument about it interfering with the way the vehicle is designed to crash safely.
I probably find the question weird because I spent my whole life around heavy equipment, trailers, and other towables. Every time a trailer was hooked up, part of the job was grabbing the hitch from wherever it was stored.
Grandpa used to say ‘just don’t be an asshole’ and being an asshole includes someone who doesn’t watch out for everybody else’s shins.
I didn’t insult the person asking or anything stupid like that. I explained exactly why the hitches are made to be quick release for removal when not in use.
Your gramps was a hell of a man. Wish more were like that.
Specially for the one ramming it from the back
Because you’re not a shit person
I don’t know if I would go that far ;) But thanks for the vote of confidence.
That’s amazing.
Wouldn’t want to have to take 30 seconds to put the ball on when they actually need it!
remove all the hitches and place them all in a pile in the middle of the parking lot
Whenever I see one like this, I want to put it in their back seat for them via the rear window…
Your idea would get me into a lot less trouble and still hugely inconvenience a lot of people. I love it
its done intentionally as an offensive bumper. its not laziness its being a dick
You could walk in there and toss a chain between a couple of those things to cause some interest chaos.
As a native Texan, I am in awe at your insight.
I’m dumbfounded there are that many people backing into parking spots. It was drilled into my head at an old job for safety reasons but I almost never see anyone else doing it.
I’m guessing these are all oil field workers who would have had the same training.
Backing a truck into a parking space is a lot easier then pulling forward into it
Way safer to pull out too, way too many blind spots backing out.
I shake my head at any car/truck/van/vehicle that pulls front in into a driveway, harder to see pedestrians or traffic when backing out, but you can see everything while backing in.
Some municipalities ban tow balls when not towing a trailer atleast, so you shouldn’t see this.
its most likely banned where this pic was taken too
I get that, but you cant load the bed when you back in (which tells you how much ‘trucking’ these guys actually do).
So the context of the parking lot would be required no? I see trucks nose in spots in Home Depot, but back into the grocery store.
It also depends on what you need that particular day. If I just need some small parts I can back in since I don’t to access my bed that trip.
I think you are reading far too much into that.
Edit. You can also back in and pull out 4 feet to load your bed, done that plenty too. Be more creative I guess.
My shins hurt looking at this
Oh boy do I have an IG account for you to follow
login-walled
I’m not sure what you expected, if you don’t have IG. Anyway, here’s a link to his YT, hopefully that works:
I had no idea what to expect because I don’t use it, sorry.
Thanks
Only the drivers’ dicks can fit in that space now
Instant unnecessary damage in a fender bender
exactly why its done
Well then I’m gonna fuck up some trucks that do this
why is the wheel of the truck in the front right fucked up like this is an AI image
the 4X4 OFFROAD text on that same truck is immaculate
i think it might be a screenshot from tiktok or some other site, it looks like it could be a sloppy photoshop job /ai patch to remove the likes/comments and such
Totally guessing, but it could be a real weird reflection on the chrome combined with jpeg degradation.
That’s the truck’s pp.
Buncha cunts who can’t park.
Femur breaker.
Shame your eyes don’t work.
