Here’s the easy first check to tell if claims are legit: specificity. If the supposed victim can’t tell anyone how the abuse happened, you’re looking at DARVO nine times out of ten. Mind you recounting abuse can be very difficult, but it’s absolutely vital to tell a story about what happened even if it’s only once.

Unfortunately, these allegations pass that check. There’s one woman who says she was pressured to give blowjobs to Gaiman or she’d lose her house, which he owned. That’s specific. Could still be fake, but it’s not as easy to tell if that’s the case as it is with a lot of allegations.

I share this information because it ought to be common knowledge, and unfortunately it’s not. Too many people out there falling for zero-specificity claims. We need to teach the general public more about fact checking skills.

This community is a tool for calling out mod decisions, and some of those decisions will be good ones that don’t need calling out. It’s still better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Justified ban imo. You weren’t there to discuss veganism as a vegan, you were there for drama. It’s not spam when they make a lot of posts to their own community. Unless the content is hateful, the correct response is to block.

Users cannot vote in a community that has banned them. If the mod wants to restrict voting only to people who vote in good faith, that’s their prerogative. It’s probably a good idea, it prevents downvote spam from bots and the like. When you have a community that has very different values from /all, maybe kicking the /all people who vote against the sub’s values out is good. Voting is participation.

Cause over the last few weeks, a bunch of debates over moderation drama have been full of people attacking vegans over the cat taurine debate. That drama is over and it reached a consensus resolution between the mods and admins. If they’ve made an executive judgement that the moderation drama is no longer relevant and baits carnists into breaking rule 5, then removing that debate is a valid application of rule 5.

I don’t understand that policy. The only times in the last 4 years that I’ve needed more than 2 days of sick leave was because I had covid, and I think that’s a very common experience. And people with covid should absolutely not be going to the doctors office and exposing themselves to the sick and elderly. If someone has covid, you should be telling them to stay home. We’re currently in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.

So your comment has the opposite meaning of the one intended.
