Honestly - its actually YouTube now! Old school auto shows are long dead now… just not where most of the new model introductions happen anymore.
Most channels are limited by how much they can spend on cars long term. Throttle House and Everyday Driver come to mind for some longer term ownership reviews. Specific to Porsche incl. air cooled 911s you want to check out Rennenthusiast. Cars With Luke does modern Porsches but not sure he puts enough miles on them, currently has a GT4RS, previously a GT3 that he didn’t keep very long and a 718 GT4 before that.
Just look up reviews until you find some channel that features a make model you’re interested in, usually there’s some interesting content out there.
It’s going to happen with the 911 too. We are at an end of the ICE age (no pun intended) so get them before they get electrified either as a hybrid or full electric.
For $8000 you can get a professional to wrap and ceramic coat the car.
I feel this one is a huge miss from Savagegeese and they really didn’t talk about the differences in the 911 lineup enough and give enough context to what the product placement is for the Carrera T version. Their format is also getting clinical for me - every review is mostly the same same and there’s a lack of excitement that I don’t feel they have a lot of passion for cars anymore much like many other reviewers.
Nick Murray’s shorter review from a few months back explains the 911 Carrera T so much better…
981 S Cayman with 6MT.
This sub has selective memory… the Japanese brands have had huge issues since the 2000s. Honda/Acura automatic transmissions in early 2000 models failing. Engine sludge buildup issues in Toyota engines. More recently lots of AC issues and failures with Honda cars. Oil dilution issues with the Honda L15 turbo engine. Etc.
These are quality issues, most recent ones are caused by cost cutting and cutting corners with parts and production to make more money per car sold. Paint quality in a Honda has been shit ever since they switched to water based.
Vinanalytics will tell you the build spec of a Porsche based on VIN and they’ve since added BMW, Mini, Rolls Royce to their decoder.
Me - I can tell shitty plastics from soft touch from leather wrapped and alcantara, etc. Not that I can’t stand cheap interiors - the GE8 Honda Fit I had once is probably the lowest grade interior of any car I’ve bought new. But it had a leather wrapped steering wheel, which is the single biggest factor a driver will notice as you’re always in contact with that. Miles of cheap plastic beyond that.
Drove a loaner Porsche Macan low spec the other day and the difference is night and day to a well specced Porsche interior with leather/race-tex/deviated stitching, etc. And believe me they’ve mastered the art of nickel and diming customers into a long list of options.
One thing I actually prefer is leatherette/vinyl seats - they’re far easier to maintain vs. leather.
You’re missing 2 key tools - a tire pressure gauge and jump starter pack.
VAG for me. Between VW/Audi/Porsche there will always be plenty of choices for my garage bays.
What’s the alternative though? Is buying Volvo ie. Geely and BYD EVs from Xi’s regime better than Tesla? There is hypocrisy here unfortunately.
The Camry is not a small car!
And Toyota needs to decide if they want the Crown to be a sedan or SUV…. Stupid naming complex here. The Crown sedan is set to be another Accord Crosstour level failure it’s so dorky looking like a Jack ass sedan on stilts.
The Crown SUV actually looks really good!
Me - but I’ve been downvoted multiple times for saying the same here by the EV legion. They point to some esoteric limited production examples like the Tesla roadster going for good amounts used… but every single mainstream electric car will see an “electronics” depreciation curve. If Porsche made the 911 an EV, it will see much faster than typical Porsche depreciation too.
