Despite being less of a fan of Mercedes-Benz (due to their current design language), I’ll probably always own at least an older sports sedan (W204 C250), and convertible (R129 SL) from them.
I’ll most likely always own a GM product of some sort. Hell, I’ve got 5 right now. Newest being my 2003 S10 I ordered.
Suzuki. 15 years ago my family got one, just routine maintenance and still driving it daily now, exceptionally reliable considering they live in Siberia. Now I commute to work on a Suzuki motorcycle.
Lexus. Always.
My first and only car is a Honda and I’m keeping it forever.
Ford. Nothing new, just vintage Fords for my daily and my fun car.
Honestly none and i don’t know the reason to. Every company can make a car with a specific set of attributes, brands don’t matter, history doesn’t matter
BMW, I’ve loved them since I was a kid, that shark nose 635 and the E30 M3 were dream cars for me as a kid. At this point I’ve owned 5 different 5 series, 3 of the E60, 1 F10, and a G30 - all heavily modified
Audi, because the nearest dealer is over an hour drive south. And the other Audi dealer is exactly the opposite direction over an hour north. It’s exciting taken an old, broken Audi on one last drive south. Or, get it towed for like 500-1000 dollars.
Subaru. I don’t really like any of their current cars from a distance but I’ve been given one while my car was being fixed and they are fantastic. Couple that with their constant crash test safety ratings. I may get another car but I’ll always have a Subaru.
I’m with you. I got a 2022 wrx a year ago, and it’s the perfect balance of utility (4 doors, a trunk, awd) and fun.
And it’s so easy to work on!
I’d love to own some kind of Miata someday, but as long as Subaru makes cars like the current-gen WRX, I’ll probably own one.
The new FA engine platform is worlds above how easy it is to work on as the EJ. Definitely took every concern about working on it to make it a breeze. I have seen them and they remind me of modern Hondas. Super simple. Most times you don’t even need to get under the car.
I like old v8 lexuses. The newer stuff doesn’t really suit me but the old school LS and GS are so nice and cheap to maintain
Easy, VW. I just simply like the way they design their vehicles. Always a solid car with good safety ratings with decent performance for its class. While I miss the Piech era Vdubs I’m happy with the direction the brand is going and will probably always have one in the driveway.
I’d like to add a Ford F-450/550 simply because I’m stubborn and will only use a Ford chassis cab on my farm
Mazda.
The feel of a Mazda is like no other. I just smile when I drive one.

I’m a GM man. My grandpa retired from there. Aunt and uncle work there now. My family has very rarely driven anything but GM vehicles. It’s the only life I know… though, shamefully, I have owned several non-GM vehicles.
Chevy, GMC, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, hell… I’ll even take a Saturn or a Humvee. Odd ball acquired or overseas brands like holden don’t count.
