This isn’t accurate. They are also calling us lazy and saying we don’t want to work hard.
The older I get and the more I understand that boomers had literally it the easiest out of any one in history the more salty I get over them calling millennials & gen Z lazy all those years.
All you stupid oldies had to do was put like 2% of your paycheck into any index over your career and you would be rich AF right now. Which, is exactly why so many boomers are fucking loaded right now and old a historically disproportionate amount of wealth for the generation.
Those two definitely represent boomer mentality. Atleast their characters do.
I honestly don’t care about anything anymore. I just wear the same 6 or 7 pairs of sweatpants everyday and at the end of the week I wash them and start over. This is how I mark the passage of time.
6 or 7 pairs? Look at Mr Moneybags over here.
I’ve just mastered being poor. So I can afford things and it doesn’t make sense. Like applegate farms chicken nuggets.
Its the 1% vs the working class, not generation vs generation.
And honestly, at this point if you go to a local Democratic party meeting, see a bunch of protesters on the side of the road, or meet with the local liberal or progressive organization’s members – the majority of the most active members will be boomers in a huge portion of the country. Outside of the cities and/or the odd left-leaning rural area, young people don’t seem to get involved.
So, to blame the problems on just that generation but also all of that generation is just wrong.
Sidenote about local democrats— they’re disgusting. A loop up only propping up their favorite candidates, using their influence to push around elections despite being a limited amount of people many with bad takes, and intentionally they have their candidates run with hidden views so that they win on popularity alone.
Like, still do it though because there’s really only upsides to influencing them, but just ugh.
Yea, there was that Power to the People concert in my county this weekend. All the acts and seemingly most of the concert-goes were 40+. Same as the No Kings protest crowds.
40+ are Millennials. Millennials are defined as 30 to 45. Gen x are 46 to 60 and Boomers are 61+.
Millennials grew up with Bush II and saw their country change after 9/11. Younger groups don’t understand what not living in a surveillance state is even like. It’s their normal.
I’m too busy working my 12 hour shift to afford the small house I got luckily 9 years ago…
I know about a half dozen younger people who voted for Trump, believing him to actually be the Senator Armstrong-type person the meme war made him out to be.
No, you’re right. He landslided the 20-30 age range that year because he went on their shows and focused on them
You must mean social media grandpa.
Actually we were just talking about this further down. Somebody called me on my shit and it turns out +65 or older voted exactly the same as in 2020. From other age groups many switched sides to Maga except 18-30 who voted Maga instead of staying home like usual
If by landslided you mean not even close to a landslide and that he lost that demographic, yeah sure
I guess you’re right. We made such a hullabaloo about young podcast listeners leaning right I suppose that I lost the point.
The chart shows a lot of people from all ages who switched or just didn’t turn out

Edit: should have linked the source on this random chart I pulled out my ass https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2025/06/26/voting-patterns-in-the-2024-election/pp-2025-6-26_validated-voters_2-02/
It looks like the only age group that didn’t increase support for Trump in 2024 compared to 2016 was 65+.
Am I reading that right?
You are correct. Which would make the only group who didn’t sell us out the literal actual boomers. Well, not more than usual anyway
Seems to me you can handle it one of two ways.
One, you can punish the boomers. When Z gets in power, abolish pensions, Social Security, and Medicare. Let the old die from poverty and disease. And then you yourself won’t have any safety net when you’re that age.
Two, you can focus on the class struggle. Focus on weakening the billionaires who control us and who made up this bullshit in the first place. Target income inequality, access to services, and draconian employment practices. Begin the century-long transformation of capitalism. This is the harder road.
So which one will do more good?
As a millennial I find it a little funny whenever someone says that type of stuff about Gen Z, because they used to say that about us. I hate to tell you but the people that get into power are almost always the shit heads. It’s not a generational thing. It’s a wealth and privilege thing. The future Gen Z leaders will be the same entitled out-of-touch shitheads that they always are.
Boomers own 52% of the country, they ARE the class struggle. Over 55s together over 70%. I don’t think anyone in gen Z is operating under the assumption they could ever retire anyway? They’re not pumping out enough babies to fund their retirement. Neither are us millennials.
Obviously the latter. But I need to make fun of older Americans who lost the plot for my mental health
i appreciate you for this answer
I appreciate you speaking truth to situation. It’s easy for me to get caught up in the rage, so I at least owe some emotional honesty
I saw wildmimic in this thread too and know they’re kind of on the same page
TacoButtPlug wasn’t the one spewing truth btw.
i spew other things ;p
Ok… Is it a butt plug made out of tacos, a butt plug in a taco, or a butt plug for when you’re having tacos?
Damn I’m stupid.
Yo, @snarkpolo@lemmy.world ! I’m dumb as hell and should have said thank you on your comment. That is all

Gen Z doesn’t need to be in power for this. The actual boomers are doing this on their way out.
- Send Trump and cronies to the Hague for war crimes.
- Expell Israeli ambassador and diplomatic personnel.
- Disband AIPAC; try citizens on their board for treason.
- Keep all the social safety nets, and fund it by eviscerating billionaires with wealth taxes.
- Break up and nationalize big-tech like Theodore Roosevelt, a (gasp) Republican.
- Introduce age ceilings and term limits for every elected office in the United States.
- Mandate rank-choiced voting, undo all gerry-mandering.
- Release Epstein files.
Watch boomers mald and rejoice in schädenfreude.
Mmmm. Lead poisoning.
Is that the “Jesus Christ is my ni*ga!” couple? Serious question lol
Holy shit. No, that’s him! I didn’t notice
That’s delightfully horrific 😂
This video is offensive. They used Papyrus font.
Can someone clarify if this was done to be satire?
no
I recognized them immediately.

This is your reminder that division along age or generation lines is as much of a distraction as division along race lines is. The real division is between who works for a living and who owns for a living. Simple as that. Sadly, the owning also includes owning the media and politicians (why yes, also most democrats), so there’s not much you can do either way. Get used to not owning a home.
Correct, its the elites that have an upper hand here.
Boomers own 52% of the country. Over 55s own about 73%. They ARE the ownership class. Billionaires are a minority of that class both by numbers and by assets. And most of the billionaires themselves are old fucks.

If people are dumb enough to enlist…. They’re dumb enough to serve. And if they’re dumb enough to serve, they’re dumb enough to die pointlessly.
No one should ever serve these administrations that don’t and will not represent us.
Replace dumb with desperate and you got it right, despite Hegseth, despite the elective war without goals or strategy, despite the conditions on the Lincoln, all branches of the US armed forces are making their recruitment quotas, where before, recruitment was beset by the obesity crisis and an epidemic of bullying, abuse and SA of the enlisted.
And FOX News has been calling for the draft and escalation specifically to thin the ranks of zoomers and alphas.
Dumb and/or desperate is closer to the truth. Some people who join have alternatives, and choose the military because they stupidly romanticize it.
Don’t count on the draft not coming back. They’re already trying to push enlistment age up.
The boomer generation failed to develop class consciousness. GenXers failed as well, as did the Millenials after them and the Zoomers following.
The lack of sufficient class consciousness to positively impact society actually unites every generation more than it divides.
I have hope this time things are different. It’s hard to deny reality when it’s this ridiculous.
you make it sound like a failure of the generations, and not a heavily targeted campaign that was started before the millennials were born specifically to stop them.
Boomers vote to build walls when they can barely lift a brick
Yep, they have the opportunity to build bridges, but they choose to build walls and gatekeep.
