The amount of articles bashing EVs here lately…this absolutely a concerted effort by somebody to drive down EV demand. There’s problems with EVs, they’re too expensive, they look stupid, there barely any EV sedans or sports cars, I could go on and on, but EVs absolutely ARE the future, whether you like it or not.

These dumb articles are in no way going to drive down EV demand though. The only thing they do is try to convince those who aren’t with it yet to keep parroting this nonsense and believing that EVs are going away.

Toyotas argument is that PHEV with SULEV engines vehicles are actually better for the environment. since 1 EV battery is enough lithium to build many PHEV battery’s it saves lithium, which is difficult, costly and emits a lot of shit ton of emissions because of the industrial mining equipment. I’m inclined to believe Toyota after the absolute banger that the new Prius is.

Toyota is over in delulu land thinking that cars that can only be sold in California will ever take off. I’m sorry, but the Mirai as an absolutely God awful car. $50k for a car that’s slower than 99% of cars on the road…

Think of it this way, at this point, probably 90% of all threads created on popular subreddits are made by bots.

Most people weren’t here that long, but there was a huge fiasco years back where people realized bots were making and posting a huge percentage of content on this site.

Know how it was kept at bay? Mods

Now we can see why that new shift of reddit to remove mod control, which resulted in many mods leaving, ruined this site.

I view reddit now as another type of “big news” media outlet. None of it is genuine and it’s all just here to farm clicks and add money.

When you understand that, these trends can be easily explained.

It’s just us vs them. Same as all other news networks. EV is just the hot button issue, just like housing, immigration, COVID 19, and all politics topics before it.

I agree. I’ve messaged mods on various subs to offer suggestions on how to cut down on the BS and they never respond either. They don’t seem to care that their subs are astroturfed to hell by OPs that post a link and disappear, having no interest in real conversation.

If somebody has no history of real conversation in a sub and just randomly posts controversial shit across various subs, they’re either a bot or a shit stirrer and neither is good for a sub.

To be clear, I’m not accusing the OP here of this, it’s just a trend on Reddit in general to farm controversy.

Absolutely. People don’t think that a post like this can be made by the company in the headline. They hire people to run social media marketing - it’s probably a person working there who posted this.

What’s the outcome? Thousands of clicks and 0 cost to get em.

There’s too much money to be made not to. Nobody can look at how much money industry players spend on lobbying and then tell themselves there’s no way those same companies won’t buy good press in the media as well.

When everybody involved wants to make money it’s profitable decisions, not moral decisions, that are made.
