Have Tesla Insurance, haven’t had to make a claim yet but have enjoyed paying less than half the rate of what all the competitors have quoted me. Figured saving thousands on coverage over time outweighs a shitty claims experience that’s only “potentially” marginally worse than competitors.
My Tesla insurance was nearly $100 less than the closest competitor. I turned a corner too sharp and dented the rocker panel and it was $11k, They sent me a check within a week, and my rates did not go up…I love Tesla insurance.
I have Tesla insurance. I was with Geico before I got the Tesla M3. I quoted both Geico and Tesla and Tesla was lower cost. Having been with Geico for over 10 years, I can say their service went down and cost went up… continually. Also, they seem to be lowering business in my state (California).
It is just another Tesla hit piece. The article is filled with hearsay.
From my interactions with Tesla for Solar and Car is that as long as you are good with communication through the app most of the time and slowish service the do pretty decent. My Model 3 warned the 12 volt battery was starting to go bad. Tesla came to my house and replaced the battery for free three days later. Car worked fine during that time.
Same Model 3 out of warranty had the trunk cable powering the trunk and lights fail. Tesla came to my house. Contacted on Friday, they came Monday.
Power inverter failed on Solar after 7 years. Contacted through app. They were responsive on the next business day. First appointment was three weeks out. Came to house and verified bad inverter. Ordered new replacement and four weeks lead time. Three weeks later Tesla contacted and said rather than wait they upgraded my replacement to a newer model and would be out to replace it. Replaced inverter, three hours after they left it stopped. A few days later they remoted into the inverter and applied the software update the installer forgot. Worked fine but Tesla came back to my house to verify it was actually fine.
Model Y has had the heat pump replaced three times all under warranty. Very fast turn arounds but annoying that it took three times to get it right.
Overall could have been better, but I have experienced similar from Ford. Except I had to talk to a human which was a minus because I had to call during work.
Tesla is a vertically integrated business, so this is only logical.
But good for Tesla does not mean it is good for customers.
an article by Reuters…
Could you find some random unhappy State Farm or Allstate customers? Sure! But that wouldn’t be newsworthy.
I pay $80 a month for Tesla insurance for my model Y.
The sole reason why Tesla got in it was because they saw EVs starting to become uninsurable. Tesla insurance is also completely connected to how you drive. No opt out. You drive late at night, like to accelerate and brake hard, high cornering speed? You quickly start to pay more for it.
Another Tesla hit piece by the mainstream media. No company is perfect and these stories cherry pick negative experiences and make it sound like it’s widespread🤦🏻♂️
