I wonder why foreign automakers with great industrial relations with their unions (aka the Germans) always choose to build their U.S. factories in the non-unionized South? When’s the last time a foreign automaker chose to open their U.S. plant in a strong union state?
Could you find some random unhappy State Farm or Allstate customers? Sure! But that wouldn’t be newsworthy.
I go for a lot of walks in the nicer areas of Berkeley and Oakland and I feel the tide has shifted against Tesla in those areas - due to political issues associated with Musk I’m sure. I’ll bet Tesla at this moment has a much higher new EV market share in Walnut Creek or Pleasanton than it does in Berkeley. I can’t believe how many Kia, VW, Polestar and Ford EV’s I see on some streets. In 2023, if you have a “In this house we believe…” sign in your front yard you likely aren’t buying a Tesla.
