Recently there has been an onslaught of cars coming into the shop with 2-3 quarts of oil in their cars when there is supposed to be 5-6 quarts. This includes my girlfriend’s car who gets her oil changed done by me. Is there a reason why that is?
P.S. some cars that had their oil changed done recently come in with low oil light and low oil.
People aren’t checking their oil.
Also oil consumption on cars has increased. Older cars aregetting older and wearing more. This makes them consume more oil. Newer cars are made with low friction piston rings that consume oil and turbo will increase the oil consumption too.
And people have gotten used to cars not consuming oil or needing any other repair work. I think that car reliability went up until 1990…2010 and then has gone down. Also car and house are probably the last things that get repaired anymore. In the past everything was taken care of and repaired when it needed repairs.
GM VW
Someone is stealing their oil, call the police!!!
Chevy Silverado with the newest facelift?
Lol you’re either a terrible mechanic or these people are just having car issues. Most likely it’s just normal car issues that happen with age there’s no real reason to this.
I have some Freightliners with the GM 6.6 gas engine that drink a quart or two in a few thousand miles. It’s not great, and now with a 10k change interval with a 5w30 I’m sure they are going to go through far more.
They pee is out st night when they’re cold bro everyone knows this smh
Subaru?
I didn’t see any consistencies - an Audi, 2019 traverse (albeit only half quart missing), older Lexus es300, a few more
Older cars and certain engines gonna consume oil doesn’t always come to a mechanical issue that’s just how they run. Some consume oil like a rotary tho lol
Im surprised that no one mentioned this before. People just don’t check their engine oil level.
This might be it, but it’s odd that it’s been happening frequently in the past week 🫠
Of all the cars, the one that stumped me the most is a 2013 Honda accord. They burn oil? I was asked to review the car and it was spotless minutes the fact that it only had 2 quarts of oil. As far as I know, the proper amount of oil was placed in. The owner likes to floor it often I’m not sure if that contributes to the loss of oil
Hyundai? Kia?
Two of the cars were Hyundais yes
