As a former gun nut, if those are legit fully automatic weapons that are registered, they are holding around $100K-275k in firearms. The tommy gun alone is around $25k+. That M60 is about $60-150k and M16’s are around $18-25k each. Flashing your insecurity as well as your wealth to your constituents is a…choice.

A gun is just a tool. That family looks scary because the tool they love has only one purpose… To kill. If you’re bad at it you can scare or mame. To not be bad at it you have to practice.
But imagine the same picture with the family holding butchering knives, or hammers, or a drill or a broom or guitars. Any of those objects are fine. But the message really changes when everyone is holding the tool like they’re ready to use it. I use my mind a lot. In my family pictures we hold up our minds.

I don’t understand why they would do this. Like, posing for a Christmas photo, sure. But add murder weapons to it? What is the message? “We’re going to kill Christmas”, or “baby Jesus you’re going to get lead” or something? “Santa is flying through the air with his raindeers and it’s open hunting season” or “Christmas time is the purge time, we’re going on a murder spree”. The last one is the one I got from this photo the most.

Eh, I grew up doing shooting competitions as a kid. My grandfather was a semi-famous trick shooter back when that was a thing, so it was something I grew up doing.
I hunt too, meat prices are insane right now and a few deer go a long way when frozen or otherwise preserved right, I don’t mind having to butcher and dress it myself. I’m not gonna stop eating meat in this lifetime, them animals are way way too tasty.
I like guns, but this photo is cringe to me too. I’m a Fudd in the gun community. Revolvers, lever-action repeaters, and shotguns are all I mess with, and I’d be more than comfortable banning all high capacity guns.

I grew up with 3000 acres of woods behind my house. Didn’t own them but had unrestricted access. I like guns but despise people like the one in this image.

I feel like if I explored the world the only photos you’d have of it are random ass birds, weird roadkill, and probably the inside of some Soviet bunker or some shit. I went to the grand canyon some years ago and the only video I took was of a goat at the flintstones thing and a squirrel tweaking out on the side of the cliff.
I did explore the world. This included war zones. I didn’t feel like making a selfie with a dead baby on the side of the road, to post it on my tinder profile with the text “I love traveling”. Or with someone’s head split open by a sniper shot, with the text “I guess we’ll eat shoarma tonight #localstreetfood”.

It’s a legit problem in some southern states. The feral hog population is destroying crops. I know someone that ranches goats and he says he carries an AR15 with 300BLK with him when he checks on his goats. He also said the hogs have killed enough of his goats that he hasn’t made any profit in them in the past couple years. It’s a very specific use case, but a real one.
