  • Yeah I can confirm. In a good test for many classes (especially math, science, and engineering) all the open notes and textbooks won’t save you if you aren’t prepared. I had a 3 day take home test in one of my engineering classes where all resources except each other were permitted and despite preparing, I, like many of my classmates, was scribbling in it in the hallway to turn it in. Fucking brutal exam.

  • Oh I’m aware, before beginning my path to atheism and ultimately paganism, I considered some denominations of the Anglican side of the Anglican-Catholic schism, and I’ve long been a fan of the Quakers. In general I mostly oppose the evangelicals, most modern baptists, and any denomination sufficiently close to Calvinism (though that’s partly because I think Calvinism is particularly horrifying theologically) as well as the fascistic side of the Catholic Church (but I’m always happy to stand beside and behind the Catholic workers)

But yeah I bring up the baptists mostly because that’s the denomination of the preacher in the post. I recognize that the baptists weren’t always like they’re largely represented today, but while I know some of their history I mostly just know them as the people who can’t tell the difference between a bishop and a satanist.

  • I don’t like DST, but I hate what Arizona does most. Driving through there and hitting that damn bullseye and wondering what the fuck is going on with my clock. Especially since national parks don’t observe dst, and Arizona is on a time zone border so really it switches between sharing a time with New Mexico and with Nevada/California. And Indiana isn’t off the hook for the same crap.

  • That’s not blood libel. Blood libel is the obviously false claim that Jews eat christian babies, often in the form of Passover matzoh. It has modern descendants like claims that “they” are turning your kids trans and if you get deeper you see those quotation marks turn into echo marks.

This is eugenics. It’s also Nazi ass bullshit, but it’s one Americans have far more blood on our hands with. A hundred years ago we in the United States were openly engaging in forced sterilization of minorities and disabled people and in doing so inspiring the German right. We still haven’t tamped out eugenic sterilization here, even when it was widely agreed to be the horrendous crime against bodily autonomy that it is. This is fucking terrifying as far as rhetoric goes
