Mitsubishi, weirdly enough, where I’m from (Philippines), they are doing just fine, but they are struggling everywhere else. Mitsubishi have a special place in our hearts, we love our box-type Lancers, Galants, and especially Pajeros. Today though Evos are gone, the Eclipse is an SUV, I really loved the new Mirage but they never thought of making a hot hatch, which would have been perfect!
I really want Mitsubishi to make a comeback. I was never a Lancer or Eclipse guy, but man, it’s all gutless econoboxes now

So many people forget that the Eclipse only happened because of the Chrysler partnership. The Eclipse has cousin models of the Plymouth Laser, Eagle Talon (my personal favorite body), and later the Dodge Avenger. Then sadly the partnership ended and the Eclipse died when no one wanted the FTO like design mashup it became in the mid 2000s.
In Europe, Mitsubishi’s model line-up is somewhat more diverse, the point being that they’re doing badge engineering on successful Renault models. The Mitsubishi Colt is a Renault Clio with a changed badge. I wouldn’t have such a problem with it if they brought out the Clio RS as a Mitsubishi model because that car is a little French rocket. Jesus Christ, besides, the design of that vehicle is impeccable, it’s a hoot.
There’s a version of the Clio RS where they put a V6 engine like the ones used in Formula 1 in the rear of the vehicle and it still had rear-wheel drive. Of course, only two seats were available for the driver and one passenger, but that was a detail.
It would be nice to see them go hard on EVs to re-establish their brand, like Kia/Hyundai are doing. If they manage to leapfrog the other Japanese brands I could see them making a big comeback.
Stelantis needs to take a page from Hyundai to revitalize their brands.
Well if they’d ever make anything interesting again I’d buy one too cause they’re cheap. What happened to the Mighty Max?
Everything they make is forgettable. Basically an “also ran” in every automotive comparison article. It’s like they include Mitsubishi just to be nice.
If they could just make one stellar vehicle in a single category, it might save their future. Not an SUV, because that’s too competitive. Maybe a sports sedan and wagon? Or better yet, a small pickup like the Tacoma back before it got so big. I think Mitsubishi actually has the resources and know-how to do it, but it will have to be awesome and reliable.
I can’t believe how ugly the current Mitsubishi Outlander model is, or even that Mitsubishi still sells cars in the US.
They used to have some of the most attractive exterior designs. I hope they make a turn around, even if it’s just in the EV space in the future. But first they need to redesign the front end of their current flagship SUV, i mean, woof. The multiple levels of headlights and weird glued-on chrome are atrocious.
