Hi, I’m from Suncoast High Schools class of 2024. If you could, would you please take a moment to fill out this survey for my AP capstone project. This survey will take around 5 minutes and all data is collected anonymously.

    Done!

I have some comments/notes if you’re interested (if not no worries).

    • You may want to get more granular on length of ownership. I just bought my Bolt to replace my previous vehicle and due to that all my answers on maintenance, fuel costs, etc. are very off. Additionally, someone with a large repair/maintenance bill in year 1 of ownership is different from year 2, 3, etc.
    • You may want to inquire about model year and whether the person purchased used or new
    • You may want to collect (basic) geographic information. Someone spending $50k on a car in Wyoming is different from $50k in California. For a similar reason you may want to ask about household income.

FYI you’ll have one response with a low purchase price and high repair cost. This was technically a voluntary battery upgrade.

Done, good luck. The dollar ranges for monthly charging/fueling costs are too low. You should change the question to weekly.

Please state US dollars, not just $.

Your fuel/charging cost has a very weird scale. Last year I was using some $250 US dollars each month for fuel, and I wasn’t even travelling anywhere, just juicing up a classic car. I invite you to ditch the scale and make it an open question: “Could you give an estimate on your fuel/charging cost per month?”

It’s high school, they’ll probably have a one-slide histogram automatically populated by Google sheets. With disparate values like that they’d have to box plot it or something and it isn’t as neat.

Your survey question for how much people spend on fuel/electricity per month tops out at $60 which is a little low, especially for people who drive a lot and live in a state with high fuel prices like California.

Can confirm, was paying $180 to $300 per month for gas in CA. $60 is about what I pay for electricity to charge my EV6 in a normal month with no long trips.
