Before the current era of ugly-ass BMWs, my opinion was that Audis were basically worse across the board, and didn’t understand why people bought them. If you read/watched any head-to-head-to-head reviews of BMW vs. Audi vs. Mercedes for the last 30 years, it was nearly always BMW winning, and the other two trading blows for 2nd and 3rd.
Now that so many of my favorite BMW models are so heinous and/or heavy, I honestly don’t know anymore. If you handed me $80,000 to buy some vehicle from any of them, I don’t know what I’d pick.
I would honestly say main reason people went Audi was the comparable model for considerably less $, the cross platforming with Porsche has reduced production and R&D costs.

One fully-spec’d Miata, and a boatload of spare cash. That’s what I’d do with $80k.
