educatinggrooming our kids into “safe sex” and giving them “autonomy over their own decisions”. More kids are growing up with more information about sex and that is resulting in a drop in youth pregnancies.And that is what is upsetting them.
When I was in high school over 20 years ago they made us read The Handmaids Tale. I laughed thinking that book was so extreme and pessimistic. I’m not laughing anymore.
I read that book after graduating high school in the deep south a decade-ish before you did, and it was so validating to me see that someone else also saw how dangerous Christofascists are. I doubt our school library would have been allowed to carry it, much less assign it as reading.

I don’t know why the downvotes. Mid 20 for men and women is the best time to have healthy children and be active, good parents.
It’s when people would naturally have kids if capitalists held up the social contract and a single income with a degree or after 5-10 years experience was enough to buy a house and start a family.
Maybe they thought I meant that current 20 year olds should get on to having kids. I don’t believe in any sort of obligation like that, its pretty impossible right now unless you are wealthy.
