US President Donald Trump said Friday that Russia had agreed to immediately supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel to US and global markets in an effort to cut fuel prices before November’s midterm elections. The move marks a stunning change of policy after the US and its allies hit Russia with waves of sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine.

That amount is in the ballpark of 20 hours of diesel consumption in the US, that will surely do it!

With my tin foil hat on I think it’s not about helping relieve diesel prices in the US, but it’s payment for Russian assistance with the upcoming midterm elections.

I imagine this is what G7 hoped to prevent when they decided to agree on bailing out the US by releasing their oil reserves, and the orange idiot does this still?! G7 should reverse the fuck out of their decision and don’t give the US any oil for this idiotic “deal”. Maybe even put some sanctions onto the US for their support of a nation currently under heavy sanctions.

Maybe even put some sanctions onto the US

Anybody can ‘sanction’ anything on paper, but sanctions only matter if the sanctioner has something the sanctioned needs. For example, the US can sanction countries or companies and take away their ability to trade using the US dollar. What does the G7 have that the US needs? This would just backfire and hurt G7 (particularly EU) countries.

Organisations that buy dollar bonds. Sanction that and the usa will crumble.

Selling off the bonds alone will have limited effect, as the other commenter said. Selling off the dollars could have a bigger effect, but you’ll need to use gold or something like that for international payments.

          Organisations that buy dollar bonds.

They’re irrelevant, the Central Bank just buys a bond from Treasury, coupon rate of 0% i.e QE. Japan been doing it with the Yen for decades for example.

Sanction that and the usa will crumble.

          zero consequence.

venzeulan has heavy crude oil, which is very difficult to process, and apparently only chevron has the ability to do so, but its quite limited. so its almost practically useless. venzeulan president capture was all a distravtion anyways.

PLEASE- cut all ties with the US!

They’re down around 30% from average output, they could theoretically make up some of the supply interruption caused by the Hormuz blockade and recent Houthi attacks on the KSA’s output, through the Druzhba pipeline that goes through Ukraine(as in territory held by the Kiev governments’ forces) to Slovakia and Hungary, it’s currently supplying about ~165,000 barrels per day, but has a capacity of 2 million per day however it transports crude oil to refineries in western Europe, not refined diesel so I don’t think this deal covers it, their actual ability to supply diesel to the US and other markets is limited as it stands

If trump and co want to bring prices down they’d either have to supply logistics somehow, or incentivise Russia to sell crude and Europe to buy by removing sanctions on petroleum exports more broadly( which wouldn’t require the EU to lift its sanction which only applies to Russian seaborne oil exports), or swallow the defeat in Iran and do what they need to do to get supply moving again there

yup, americans you’re all nazis. I don’t care anymore. you’ve aligned yourselves with another dictator for some diesel that likely won’t show up.

I absolutely LOVE how prior to all this trump bullshit americans were all about their 2A rights but now? crickets. the whole “don’t tread on me” thing which ends up was actually bullshit. you’re a bunch of cowards. I don’t care anymore, i’m done holding my tongue. I’m sick and tired and living above a bunch of nazis.

“what do you expect us to do?” nothing. I hoped you’d have done something, ANYTHING, by now. “we have the midterms!” yeah you think this clown is going to actually allow you to gain power via voting? grow up. take back your country.

If aligning oneself with dictators is enough to make one a Nazi, then all of Europe must be doing Sieg Heils three times a day. I have no love for America, but the holier than thou moral outrage doesn’t survive a reading of 21st century EU foreign policy.

Okay on second thoughts “EU” wasn’t the best way to put that. Let me rephrase: I have no love for America, but the holier than thou moral outrage doesn’t survive a reading of 21st century EU member states’ foreign policy (because the EU’s foreign policy tends to be pretty limited, though no less despicable). With that in mind, here’s your answer:

Well for the most part whatever America is doing, which means backing American escapades in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Libya (though this one was more of a mutual collaboration), Yemen, etc off the top of my head. European countries also seem to generally have no problem with selling weapons and providing aid to brutal Middle Eastern dictators, leading to European weaponry reaching RSF hands. If you specifically want EU stuff, you have fishing in West Africa and of course the EU has a trade agreement with Israel.

NoneOfYour is probably talking about the humanitarian aid spent on war torn dictatorial countries like paying for healthcare, food, education. Often caused by US Russian proxy wars.

Or about France and UK aiding the US in their war in Irak, Or of Palestine by arguably more EU countries backing although, often innocently advertised, defence only.

Oh the Trump regime and its supporters are definitely fascist, but as for everyone else in America not stopping fascism doesn’t make one fascist; it makes one complicit (which I do agree a majority of non-fascist Americans are).
