Summary

Elon Musk lashed out online Monday as Tesla stock plunged over 15%, wiping out its post-election rally and shedding 50% of its value since December.

Investors worried about market declines, recession fears, and Tesla’s growing controversy after Musk’s far-right rhetoric and mass government layoffs.

Musk falsely claimed Democratic donors funded anti-Tesla protests and linked critics to Jeffrey Epstein. He amplified conspiracy theories blaming arson attacks on Democrats.

Despite his efforts, Tesla’s collapse cost Musk $23 billion in a single day.

I mean, it’s just really hard to understand why all these billionaires have decided to become so politically active. 1.) they have more than enough money for 10 more generations at least. 2.) if there is a serious tax hike or other threat to their wealth they can always quietly buy off some key politicians. 3.) if you stick your neck out like Musk (and some other billionaire cabinet members do) you run the chance that people will want to cut it off. If I were a billionaire I would make it my lives mission to ensure that the general public does not know my name.

It’s because they want it all. They have all the money. They want to be self righteous and proud of whatever thought that comes into their mind without having to hide it too.

They’re billionaires already because they can’t stop. Ever.

In Texas, if you have a contract with the state or a school district, you have to sign a contract where you agree not to “boycott israel” whatever that means. So I guess if one was to “boycott israel” while taking money from the state of Texas, that could be considered an illegal boycott.

That feels like the government placing limits on the rights of corporations to express political views, which SCOTUS has stated is illegal (if you define speech as campaign contributions, which it does).

JFC I’d actually appreciate the maga version of the Democrats.

These fictional Democrats are organized, well funded, cohesive and seem to have a great long term strategy for ruining republicans. With an organization like that you’d think that they would be in control of the government?

This is one of the things that pissed me off during the election campaign. Calling Trump “weird” worked as well, for all of a couple of weeks, and then the party muzzled Walz and never let anyone say it again.

They had an effective ad campaign that hit their opponents right where it hurt - their fragile ego - and they just…gave up.

He also circulated a video taken by a customer in their new Cybertruck, writing, “Heartfelt thanks to everyone supporting @Tesla, despite many attacks against our stores and offices.”

    that’s the meltdown.

It’s RollingStone, btw, whom Yahoo is reposting. This is the Nü “May be collapsing” headline the corporate news sewers need to push. They’re desperate for someone or something to go down so they can claim victory.

Musk is going to walk away with billions stolen from taxpayers, and he’s not ‘melting down’ for shit, he just Xitted something before dosing himself and it sounds vaguely like something a regular person might have said so they jumped on it.

There seem to be about 5000 people living there now… I wouldn’t want that for them. But I’m sure there’s a nice, sparse, unpopulated island without utilities and internet access in the Hawaiian archipelago for Mr. Musk to spend the rest of his life on. Lisianski Island for example looks great!

Edit: Or Sentinel Island, the indigenous would be really happy to see him :)

Easy come, easy go. I think it was pretty obvious from the start that the richest man on Earth was balancing on a bloated balloon.

He’s still filthy rich from the payouts he took along the way, but I guess he will soon feel the interests of the Twitter loans piercing into his actual assets.

In an IDEAL world, Musk will be removed as CEO for both failure to perform (he’s literally not doing his job given that he’s doing all his DOGshitE) and the harm he’s bringing to the brand. No other CEO would be allowed to get away with this.

Then, in a JUST world the stock will stabilize, start to grow again, and everyone will get back on the EV train with Tesla included. While the Muskrat watches from the sidelines like the loser he is.

CAVEAT: only if he also doesn’t still own any more of the stock than he could get owning VTSAX like the rest of us.

Maybe its a bit of a spicy take… but honestly, I’d be okay with this being a death spiral for tesla. They played their role in getting EVs into the mainstream, now let their figurative head rot on a pike as a warning that letting a shithead nazi helm your company is an existential mistake, and not just a bump in the road.

I won’t totally disagree. But a lot of employees will lose their jobs and an innovative competitor would leave the market. Maybe a middle ground would be like, a hostile takeover bid that also merged them with Rivian or something. Then a rename to “eXla” just to fuck with Elon :)

Fun fact: The Nuclear Energy Commission has several ideas on what to do with nuclear waste. Well before The Elder Scrolls: Arena came out, they floated an idea to bury the waste in remote locales, but they couldn’t figure out how to mark it in such a way that would transcend language, since the waste will still be deadly several hundred times longer than any human civilization has managed to last. One of the many ideas they came up with was to cover the sites with what appear to be Daedric Ruins from Morrowind. AFAIA none were ever built, sadly.

      Make America Build Daedric Ruins!
