More wine, Your Grace?
More wine, Your Grace?
On that note, Melchior would make for a metal af middle name.
I’d like to believe that the only reason 2020 got so ratfucked in the first place was that Trump was intentionally not putting the screws on anybody to do their jobs.
A second Jan 6th won’t happen, at least not this year. A MAGA mob will show up at the capitol and be met by a fully prepared and well armed national guard, because Biden is the commander in chief and he’s going to take threats like that seriously.
If the house declines to elect a speaker, Biden could in theory put pressure on them to pick one. The constitutional crisis can swing both directions - yes the Republicans will likely try to avoid certification, but then Biden could threaten to not step down unless the certification happens, or hand over the reigns to VP Harris anyway by resigning. I don’t see it working in their favor to try something like not certifying or not electing a speaker, because they don’t have the luxury of Trump in the white house to look the other way at their bad behavior.
I imagine that a university level coding assignment and the backend code that runs the Twitter.com website (albeit just fractions of it) are several orders of magnitude apart from each other in terms of size and complexity. I don’t know shit about programming though, I took C++ in high school and got a D+. Should’ve called the class Introduction to D++.
Calling a genocide a “single issue” is offensive as fuck.
It’s literally objective reality. It is one single issue among many. If you’re unwilling to consider other issues when voting just because one of them is genocide, that makes it a single issue and it makes you a single issue voter.
I don’t give a fuck if that offends you. Get lost.
The political culture is embracing you to never think past the next election.
I am absolutely thinking past the next election. I want to make sure, at any cost, that the person who has vowed to become a dictator on day one, deport millions of legal immigrants, terminate the constitution, and use the military against his political opponents does not win.
In other words, I am voting in this election to ensure that there is a next election.
Since the bad faith leftists seem adamant that genocide is genocide and that there are no shades of grey involved, then my support for either candidate hardly matters in that regard, so I’m not going to let it stand in the way of casting my vote to support other issues that I care about. Women’s right to bodily autonomy and the rule of law are two big ones in my book.
I’m sorry that innocent people are dying in Palestine in a senseless conflict, truly I am. I hope the people of Israel do their own part to hold their government responsible for these atrocities, because ultimately that’s what needs to happen. Israel could continue the war indefinitely even without U.S. support. We are not the lynchpin holding the Israel-Hamas war afloat, we’re just one cog in the machine.
I knew all these single issue fake leftists were full of shit when it was revealed that Trump has been sabotaging peace talks and they weren’t immediately outraged by that revelation.
Nah, they all have a political objective, and it doesn’t involve peace in the middle east. Their objective is to use genocide as a political wedge to divide the left and get Trump elected.
I saw something a few weeks ago that went something like “People really about to elect a fascist who wants to terminate the constitution just to shave $0.50 off the price of eggs.”
Really, it should have been “because they think he’ll shave $0.50 off the price of eggs.”, because he doesn’t have a policy plan to tackle inflation. He doesn’t have a plan at all aside from staying out of prison.
At my company, they used to be a lot more tolerant of it, but we had exactly one person complain about excessive use of coarse language and then HR cracked the whip. They still don’t really care that much about using swear words when just interacting in person with other people, as long as it’s not bothering anybody else, but they heavily police our work chat to make sure that all of our messages are above the board in terms of professional conduct. Which makes sense, I can’t really argue against the logic that the work chat should be a professional setting where you can communicate your thoughts and feelings without having to resort to using profanity. Sometimes people have to be reminded to not use profane language, but they never call anybody out specifically, they just send out “reminder” messages whenever they see it and usually the person who is responsible knows not to keep it up or else there will be a more direct reprimand.
It would be hard for me to not sometimes utter “fuck” under my breath while I’m at work, but if my bosses were concerned about it, I would just start channeling that into more work-appropriate language.
Ayo brother I am with you, Chick-fil-A is pretty bottom tier chicken. It’s like what white people who think ketchup is spicy think of when they think of good fried chicken.
I have never up voted something purely on reaction to the title, but I knew what this was going to be as soon as I saw it.
Mtg is dead to me now. I don’t give a fuck about secret lair, I hate playing commander, and I absolutely despise these off-theme universes beyond sets.
I haven’t bought any cards in ages because I just don’t feel like collecting anymore. Nevertheless, the game continues on without me. I am no longer the target demographic, and it sucks, because magic was special.
So your reaction to learning that Trump is actively sabotaging peace talks with Israel is… Blame the Democrats?
Seriously smooth brain conservative take, holy shit.
I barely use my phone as anything more than a glorified pager. I don’t need fucking AI.
When the billionaires who own the media and the highest level of government are in bed together so long as the government continues to tailor it’s policies to ensure that the wealthy stay wealthy, then the line is so blurred it might as well not exist.
I’d like to see the video first. Claims of a video are pretty meaningless. It’s a lot like saying you have a concept of a plan.
Nevertheless, I hope it’s not fucking true, because if it is true, that means some poor woman was victimized, will probably never get to see any justice because the legal system refuses to hold Trump accountable for anything, and it won’t move the needle an inch in terms of the blind deference Republicans give to Trump.
I think there were definitely some rage bait crumbs left behind in this screed as well. Like the line about how the left combating misinformation is somehow “Orwellian”. Transparent, but in this political climate sometimes it’s hard to tell if people really do believe this shit or not.
Trolling as an art form is dead because people like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, who have too much power and influence over others, are either too gullible to know that difference between someone who is serious and someone who is trolling, or willfully ignoring that fact and amplifying the message anyway to serve their own ends.
This emoji has two meanings:
the “original” meaning is based on the “shaka sign” from Hawai’ian culture. It’s often paired with the phrase “hang loose”, which generally just means to relax, have a good time, etc.
When mobile telephones first started to become mainstream, they would have an antenna that extended up and out of the phone chassis a speaker and a receiver that you would speak directly into, so people picked up this gesture that mimicked the shape of a cell phone. Pressing it against your cheek with the pinky finger in front of your mouth and the thumb covering the opening of your ear would be accompanied by saying or mouthing “call me” was pretty universally understood and was one way to communicate the desire to speak on the phone from a distance where you could still visually see someone but shouting was ineffective or impractical.
edit: some people have clarified that the gesture predates cell phones, which makes sense.
I know, I rolled my eyes at that part too.
I hope the judge presiding would realize that fining the richest man in the world $10,000 would be like fining me one cent for a parking ticket and expecting me to have learned my lesson. Jail time should absolutely be on the table all things considered.
There are a lot of people who went for Trump in 2016 that he’s never going to get back again. The “I only voted for him as a joke because I thought he had no chance and I didn’t like Clinton as a candidate” folks are real. I know one in real life and he’s very repentant. Voted for Biden in 2020 and will be voting for Harris this November.
He’s no longer an unknown quantity, so people voting for him because they were giving him the benefit of the doubt have had an entire Trump term to have that doubt stripped away. I think they’ll avoid making that mistake again, just like they avoided it in 2020.
Then there’s the accelerationists who thought voting Trump in would be the quickest way to bring about a rapid collapse of the shitty duopoly and convince both parties that they need to reevaluate their platforms. As it turns out, it just dragged both parties even further right, so those guys can safely stay home knowing that handing Trump a second term isn’t going to further their agenda in the slightest.
I’m sure there were a lot of people who were just duped with misinformation and bullshit, and I hope those guys still remember how they were tricked last time and vote accordingly.
Lastly, I still believe that there are American voters out there who drew lines in the sand, said they were uncrossable, and meant it. Things like staging a coup to remain in power, getting impeached twice, threatening to end the constitution, and threatening to use the military against his political opponents. Those people have to step up to the plate now more than ever.
He’ll have plenty of time to catch up on some Z’s in a prison cell.
