  • Like everything else in life, if you can’t do it yourself, you pay someone else to do it. Dealership prices are the highest; expect labor rates above $150 per hour. Parts prices will be the same at dealer and independent shop. Indy shop labor rates will generally be less than dealer.

    Substantial savings can be realized doing the work yourself. This does require time, tools, space & inclination.








  • Brake fluid flush & fill every 2 years; time-based not mileage. Coolant flush & fill every 2 years. I think you mean rotors, not calipers.

    Transmission fluid & filter every 60-65K miles. NOT flush! I do my diffs & transfer case at the same time. My oil change interval is 6K miles based on used oil analysis from Blackstone Labs.

    I check air filter & cabin filter every oil change, usually change them every other oil change.

    My brakes get done when they need it, my rotors are currently smooth, no scoring.

    I do all this at home, I have the tools, time, space & inclination to maintain my cars myself.
