Because they calculated it will save you $15k in gas. And if there’s one thing a car salesman or manufacturer will never do, it’s pass on the savings to you

Hear me out: Japanese car manufacturers have thus far been avoiding what seems like the inevitability of EVs in the American market. Don’t look to Mazda the 3rd or 4th tier manufacturer to blaze the trail.
More importantly, what I call the Prius phenomenon backfired. Toyota accidentally created a toxic brand. Despite being quite popular with the owners, almost everyone else views the Prius and by extension hybrids as weenie-mobiles. We want cool looks, high tech, and performance. But Toyota is stuck with Lexus - a brand which i admittedly loathe. Lexus is about luxury and performance and the accompanying dismal fuel economy. They know all too well that the Prius stink must not contaminate the Lexus brand. And their pickups and SUVs are likewise dependent on pretending gas is cheap and macho men need big heavy gas hogs to drive to work.
Imo Toyota, Subaru and Nissan are simply not interested in reducing carbon. They are all legacy manufacturers and don’t have the ability or will to innovate. What is their plan if various countries including those in the EU (plus some American states) won’t allow ICE in 2035?
Man, I feel like a lot of current politicians are going to be dead in 2035
Zzzzz wake me when 400 miles is the norm. The market for EVs is shallow right now thanks to the “300 mile” range which is really 200
