Brands come and go and even the big chinese brands make up little brands to sell specific models.
It’s not really men over 40 who are buying cars. The majority of consumer spending is done by women, so you have to market towards them to sell anything. And right now they’re into large SUVs.
On an old diecast forum I was on many moons ago (RIP Hobby Talk) it was small but nice. I moved to instagram and reddit once Photobucket decided to kill itself. So many niche forums have been nuked thanks to them.
My first and only car is a Honda and I’m keeping it forever.
My thirteen year old civic doesn’t have much of a problem at all. Sure I only drive it maybe 4k miles a year but jesus christ these poor cars itt.
Nobody is going to advertise their car as slow and boring. Like Nissan had their altimas going around a race track in an ad (which is pretty representative of their drivers).
It came at the right time at pretty much the peak of post-war success, it was cheap enough and it came with loads of options. Advertising it heavily also helped.
