You had a bunch of things going against you:

1. EQB is a fairly low range EV.
2. EQB only has mediocre charging speed.
3. You charged to 100%. Charging slows down drastically above 80% in pretty much all EVs, so the fastest way to road trip is to drain the battery down to 10% and only charge to 60-80%, making more frequent, but much shorter stops. It requires a different mindset than filling up your gas car completely, but it works.
4. It was probably very cold, which is the worst case for EV efficiency.

If you were in a longer range EV with faster charging and didn’t charge so high, charging probably would have only added an hour to your 6 hour trip in cold weather, and maybe 30-40 minutes in warmer weather, which can be offset by eating and using the restroom during those charging breaks.

IMO, people who make it their mission to defend him and people who make it their mission to hate on everything Tesla just because he’s CEO are both weird. Both types of people seem to have an obsession with Elon.

Tesla should just sign a CBA or pull out of Sweden if they don’t want to be burdened by the unions there. It’s not worth the bad press. Tesla probably has some internal policy of not giving in to unions because they’ve seen how the American unions have crippled GM, Ford, and Chrysler over the past several decades, and even though Swedish unions are different than American unions, they’re still unions.

For me, it’s not about fixing issues. I really love the OTA updates on my Tesla more than I thought I would. I get an update about every 2 weeks for the past year I’ve owned it, and they very commonly include nice new features. It keeps things fresh and fun and prevents me from getting bored of the car.

I actually like their test methodology, but Edmunds testing like 2-3 variants of every Hyundai, Kia, and Porsche model really pushes all the other cars down a lot further, but I would say:

• Top 6 (600+ mph) - next level… just Ioniq 5/6, EV6, Taycan
• 7-19 (~500+ mph) - excellent… still road trip beasts
• 20-28 (~400+ mph) - decent
• 29-40 (~300+ mph) - minimum acceptable for road trips
• 41-43 (under 300 mph) - awful… never road trip these

Adding 100 miles of range from 10% would only require and ending SOC of 41%.

In the Out of Spec 10% challenges posted to YouTube, the Model Y LR (same battery as Model 3 LR), charged from 10% to 59% in 15 minutes in optimal conditions, meaning 10% to 41% in 10 minutes that Edmunds measured sounds about right.

Looks like they measure time to charge to 100 miles of range based on their average tested consumption, which is 6.9 minutes for Ioniq 6 RWD, and then multiply 100 * (60 / 6.9) = 869 mph. I think it’s actually a decent way to measure it.
