Interesting. If it’s just for a round town commuter then the EV would be safer for two reasons:
Not needing to stop to fill up, ever. Just charge overnight at home.
Statistically EVs break down far less often than their ICE counterparts - way fewer parts to go wrong, even fewer moving parts, and nothing gets very hot.
I would also suggest the instant acceleration makes them safer as it’s quicker to respond to tricky situations but that may be arguable.
