But all the BEV stand tell me BEVs are more mechanically simple than PHEVS. maybe PHEVs are the solution after all. They give you the greatest gains per kilo of lithium and they have no range anxiety.

Driving through back roads where I live with rolling hills. It’s best during autumn.
Often I’ll be happy pacing the car in front of me with healthy following distance and Mario Andretti will be inches off my bumper. It’s like, look around pal, it’s nice AF out. People come from around the world to experience this shit. Take it in and enjoy your life.
F80 is great but it’s not top 2. It may be the best modern one but e30 and e46 are probably the top two.
E46 M3 and $40k worth of tires and track insurance.
As a miata owner I would rather own a manual premium than an auto turbo. The turbo engine is really a CUV engine that is fun because it’s fast but not really a driver’s engine. Manual Mazdas also hold their value very well. Look at early skyactiv generation manual Mazda 3 2.5 prices. The turbo is a fun torquey daily driver. It’s like a grand touring compact. The manual premium is the drivers car though. Most affordable manual compacts have small turbo engines. The Mazda 3 has a relatively high displacement normally aspirated four. It’s a nice setup that feels a bit like an older NA V6.
I’m glad they don’t use CVTs but I wish they just used the ZF8 on the new RWD platform. It’s proven and dead reliable. They instead made their own transmission which isn’t as good and probably cost a lot to develop.
That engine can take a lot of abuse. You’re almost certainly not pushing it anywhere near its limit on public roads. Keep in mind the engine coolant being up to temp doesn’t mean the oil is, which is important to the turbo as well as the engine. I don’t really push my car hard until I’ve been driving for a good five minutes.
My buddy just bought one because he wanted one of the last V8s. It’s a lot of car for the money and it’s built of a great platform. It’s got a hemi and a ZF8. Hard to beat as a powertrain for a full sized SUV.
The problem with BMW is year after year they asked customers in focus groups what they wanted. The marketing team made the engineers give them the customers what they wanted. And that is bigger heavier more powerful cars. They slowly lost their ability to finese
If it were me I’d keep a clean E46 M3 for life and just get a CPO 330. The E46 is the Goldilocks M3. The new m cars are pigs. Might as well keep the drivers car and have a modern disposable 3 series you don’t mind getting dirty. Keep the E46 until you die but have a daily that does 85% of what you need.
