  • You’re witnessing the fossil fuel industry shaking in their boots.

We recently had a local voter referendum on the ballot to establish an eco-responsible working team to help the city make good climate choices. One could not imagine how quickly and grossly the oil and gas industry jumped on this to squash it. It was shades of Q-Anon on steroids with constant TV ads, infiltration of organizations such as Chamber of Commerce, Realtor association, school boards etc. and bombarding the terrain with disinformation. A circus. End vote was something like 85% against the ecology team.

  • Never punish someone by punishing yourself.

Musk is a bad choice for what you’ve heard. Tesla is a good choice for the reasons you’ve stated.

Among the current EV candidates in the sub $70,000 space, Tesla has a superior charging network, superior charging speed, superior efficiency in its motor design and probably the best self driving system. Most EV owners do the great majority of charging in their garage, but when you must drive distances, Tesla wins on charger network and charging speed. Most Teslas qualify for the full $7,500 federal incentive, which, as of January 2024 can be a place-of-purchase discount.

In the negative vein, Tesla shows poorly on reliability ratings and fit & finish.

If you have never sat in a Model 3 or Model Y, you should do a front and rear “sit test”. The Model 3 seats are lower, so you sit down into the car and then climb up and out of the car, plus the rear seat has limited legroom. The slightly larger Model Y fixes those two things plus is a hatchback for better cargo utility.
