  • Porsche has had amazing service for me. It’s never a big deal to get a loaner car when I take it in for updates and they have complimentary charging.

I just drove home since my mother is in the hospital. There’s no convenient fast chargers here. I went to the dealer to recharge my car and they didn’t have a fast charger either, but they loaned me a Macan to drive to the hospital, charged my car up on their LV2 charger, then delivered it to the hospital for me. I’d say that’s pretty hard to beat.

  • People keep saying shit is obsolete but I’m trying to figure out what the real breakthrough is.

And why is everyone so desperate for a 500 mile range ev? I charge once a week and never think about it.

If anything, I want them to figure out how to make this 500 mile range battery, then cut it in half and give me a 250 mile battery that weighs half as much. I’ve driven all over the rural south just fine on 250, but I’d LOVE if it weighed less.

  • Man, is it simply impossible for r/cars to ever acknowledge that some people are not 28-year-old single men and need more practicality in a car than what a coupe provides, but more sportiness than what an SUV provides?

I own a Taycan and I specifically chose it over the competition because I enjoy driving, but I also need to carry my kids and their stuff around. I don’t want a numb-feeling bank vault Audi and a 911’s back seat isn’t going to cut it.

And yes, I know I could afford TWO cars for the money, but I also work remote. The ONLY time I get to drive is going to get groceries, go to doctors appointments, and occasionally go pick up take-out. I don’t have time for track days, auto cross events, or entire day canyon carving sessions. So, I need a car that makes the most mundane chores as exciting as possible. That’s what this car does.

  • I literally just drove my Taycan 600 miles this weekend and I had to spend more stopping to piss, shit, and eat than I spent charging. My only gripe is that the charging stalls are in Walmart parking lots, which have a whole lot of nothing to do nearby unless you want to walk a half mile to eat McDonald’s. I picked up food, ate in my car while charging, and immediately got fucking hash brown grease all over my alcantara.
