  • “Mechanics are telling me”, they are saying that just because “new=bad” and they didn’t get used to it yet. Just like 0w-20 oil is “water” (20 years ago, 5w-30 was “water”), how all the newest emissions standards are stupid. When Euro 4 came out it was bad, now Euro 7 is coming and the Euro 4 is “good”.

Some mechanics still claim a DPF will make a car unreliable, even though there are already milions of cars with hundreds of km that never had a DPF issue. The same is true with start/stop. I’s just popular to hate it in certain groups.

Most of the average people don’t even know you can turn start/stop off, or even if they do know, they don’t do it. When walking, I hear multiple start/stops working every day. They will work fine for years to come.

Just like my parents 400k km DPF didn’t blow up the engine yet, the start/stop won’t do it on their future car either.

Disabling it has its purpose. For example, when coming to a roundabout you might be stopped for half a second, so you don’t want the engine to turn off. On standard signal or in gridlock traffic it’s quite nice.

People that hate it the most, are the ones who won’t even give it a chance. There are people in hybrids that force start/stop off. No comment on that…
