When driving in city/commute. Are you using the start/stop for the engine to stall when you are stopping or you always disable it. Some mechanics are telling me it could cause problems to leave it enabled.

I feel like in short spans it “hurts” the engine, if the traffic is constantly coming to a stop for a brief moment, i turn it off. Turn it on when approaching a red light etc.

You can leave it on, it won’t cause issues. It’s really a preference thing

Turned it off on my M2C when I took delivery on the floor of the Welt (US european delivery) - haven’t touched it since. Didn’t realize until reading the comments, that some other models require you to turn it off each time the car is powered on?

Nope. The starter, alternator, and battery are all designed with it in mind.

Believe it or not, engineers are relatively smart.

Never want to use it after the starter motor binds with clutch and refuses to restart after waiting for light. Saved by roadside assistance but can’t afford another death in the middle the road

The only time I disable start stop is when it’s super hot / cold to keep the A/C or heat running strong. Otherwise, I use it all the time. Never understood the hate for it.

2024 x5 over here - they took away the button. No way to turn it off anymore. Thankfully in my F82 the button remembers the setting you last had it on.
