Damnit just let these sell in the US. All I want is a brand-new bare bones truck I can beat on and carry shit with. I don’t need touchscreens, navigation systems, or a ridiculously smart computer.
I just want a sturdy little truck with a heater, a/c, and a manual transmission. And that Toyota reliability.
I hear you, but this is like 200 inches long. It’s no Ram, but it’s not exactly dainty.
I’m not talking tiny. I just don’t want a massive bloated thing that I can’t buy in a regular cab.
Fair point.
Sounds like you need a side by side
Yeah because side-by’s are so great for traveling on the highway.
Yeah but then can’t sell it for 50k
This seems like a rip off. Starting at $19,000 when the Ford Maverick started at the same price and had double the features as this thing. I get that they’re different trucks with different purposes but I feel like they could do better with the pricing.
On second thought it seems like inflation hit the Maverick like crazy because it now starts at $23,000. I guess the pricing is a tint bit more adequate then.
The Maverick is nothing but a Ford Focus shaped like a truck, its literally the same platform as the Focus. The Hiliux is an actual truck.
An enhanced lite ace I should say
Where is the .50 cal?
Mount should be a factory option. Probably have to go to your nearest ISIS distributor to fit the gun though.
These guerilla movements typically have localized fab shops for this kind of stuff
Its more sustainable to shop local.
That will show up over at /r/shittytechnicals
Except it’s a Toyota so it’ll be a good technical.
“Babe, wake up. New technical just dropped!”
As an owner of a 3rz-fe, it brings great joy to see Toyota still putting the 2.7 2TR-FE in new models (the 2TR-FE reused the block of the ancient 3RZ)
Ah, the notorious 2TR-FE. Here in Indonesia the whole TR family of Toyota engines are notorious for chugging fuel.
14 mpg from a 2.0L 1TR-FE on urban driving, 18 mpg on mixed highway/urban driving. The 2TR-FE is a little better thanks to its increased torque compared to the 1TR.
Ah power of a 4 cylinder, Fuel consumption of an 8 Cylinder.
Reminds me of the Mitsubishi Astron variant fitted in older Monteros and Pajeros. Power of a 4 Cylinder, engine the size of a 6 Cylinder, and Fuel Consumption of an 8 Cylinder, Perfect engine!
Why do you get joy from Toyota still using a lousy 4-cylinder that gets the same MPG as their V6?
Because it’s closely related to the 3rz-fe in my first car. An engine that does nothing but serve me well, and was the best possible engine to learn semi-advanced skills doing maintenance on. The 2TR is continues that legacy, so I’ll root for it.
Also it does get slightly better fuel economy than even the modern V6 GR engine.
the ancient 3RZ
Some would say “venerable”!
Would be cool if AUS got it everyone here is obsessed with the higher spec Lux already. Most utes per capita pretty sure. On another note 2.0 100kw engine is insane underpowered considering it’ll be even less to the wheels + with a load
Send to USA!
I can’t wait to import one to Canada in 15 years.
Good on ya champ
lol they are going to have to rebadge it if they start selling them here. You wouldn’t be caught dead turning up to a site in a ute with Champ written on it.
Studebaker sold a Champ pickup in the US for a few years. Not much of a looker because it used the compact Lark sedan’s cabin on a 1940s frame, with a bed sourced from Dodge’s leftovers.
Yep, waiting for it.
It’s a typical work truck, every setting is only for local company and business buyers.
Truck is still imaged as work vehicle in most Asia countries, most people in there don’t use truck as their daily family car.
$24k for a basic bare bones truck?
I don’t get it, this is the next gen 70 series.
No
holy shit that’s amazing
How does this tiny thing manage to weigh nearly 3 tonnes? I get thats for the LWB version, but wow.
It’s 200 inches long for a start
