It is a fantastic vehicle with good range, decent charging, impeccable safety, built-in Android interface and Google Maps, and older models sell for similar prices to the Ioniq 5 / ID4 etc. I test drove it and it is luxuirous, comfy, and just a great and beautiful car. I don’t even see it mentioned almost ever.

I’m guessing perhaps the range, but the 2024 RWD model has around 300mi and AWD 256mi of range. Older ones around 220mi. I’m considering it above all others I’ve driven because it has better ride height and viewing angles for me as I’m tall with a very long torso.

I’d say, at least with the prerefresh, the price-to-range ratio just wasn’t good; 223 miles of rated range for $50k+, and it didn’t charge particularly great to make up for the lack of range either.

I really like the rest of the car, though; practically all of my experience with it has been very positive. I think the range improvements for the 2024 model year fix its most glaring issue, as well as improvements to the charging, but charging improvements are only for the RWD model in the US for whatever reason, these updates make it a great overall car.

For the price, I’d rather get a Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5 or 6. I can’t speak to the visibility comparison, but you’d get better range and faster charging for less money with those. But yeah looks like the refresh is bringing it closer into consideration territory.

I had a 2022 C40 and road tripped it up and down the west coast, even along 267 in the eastern sierras where chargers are few. I got closer to 250 miles or range out of it.

That said, when driving from San Francisco to Seattle there are some bits of northern CA / southern OR where the chargers are few and you really have to hit every one of them. If one is not working at all you might be in some trouble or hoping you can find a hotel with an L2 charger and spend the night.

I loved the car. But my Rivian reservation came up, so I ended up getting the R1T and getting rid of the C40. Still sometimes wish I’d held onto the C40 also.
