Had a couple of CSPs done on my 2019 RAV4 and noticed this note on the second page of the paperwork I got back. Is this a standard note?

I routinely service my vehicle, just not at the dealership. I’m wondering if they saw something concerning or if this is standard for vehicles they don’t service? Any input would be appreciated!

I work at a Toyota dealership in parts. I have not seen that on a repair order previously, but I have heard it from our service advisors many times.

It gets told to our customers as a courtesy, and to also prevent any misunderstandings or arguments. Warranty/Service Contracts are very aggressive about trying to decline claims, and will decline them if they thing you do not adequately maintain your vehicle.

Most folks don’t realize that a warranty is just an insurance policy. Car companies can and will use any possible reason to refuse warranty work. If your car is under warranty and you have maintenance done somewhere other than a dealership be sure to properly document it.

Have you looked into r/justrolledintotheshop ? There are people out there on the road next to you who don’t take care of their vehicles.
