Manuals are cool and all but man oh man are modern dual clutch autos better in every conceivable way except from letting you manually clutch

I prefer the “old” DCT over the new manuals, but id take the new manual over the new DCTn’t any day.

Manual only for the past 20 years. Lived in the Bay Area commuting across the bay bridge every day at one point, one of the worst commutes you can ask for. I actually like manual even in traffic, otherwise I’d be hopelessly bored in a slush box.

Honestly, I had a manual for 20 years, just got an auto and I love it. Especially in afternoon traffic lol

Automatic, because I like to be able to have my hands on the steering wheel at ALL times. I fell like I have more CONTROL that way. It’s more fun for me too.

Before I bought my 430D, I was manual only, and I enjoyed it. Now that I have my 430D, automatic is the only way forwards. I have the sports automatic gearbox in my car, and it is lots of fun.

So much of driving (and life) is mindless. I feel more engaged/present in the driving experience when driving a stick. And it’s a lot more fun. Drove stick shifts until I gave them up for more practical cars when I had kids. And recently went back to manual and I’m so glad I did.

Manuals all day! In a past business I drove the fastest and most exotic cars… but for my personal cars I always go for manual. No comparison.

The whole “but traffic” and “it’s faster” idea is nonsense. Driving autos, dual clutch, PDK, etc… is analogous to ‘wearing protection’ as far as feel goes.

Now, let’s remember that not everyone enjoys driving. I mean, really enjoy it. To those I say: go ahead and drive whatever works for you, but don’t yuck my yummy. 😂
