2026 has had a lot of great albums come out. I’ve listened to quite a few, but I’m sure I’ve missed a lot of good ones. So, what have been some of your favorites?

Here are some of mine:

  • Neurosis - An undying love for a burning world (post-metal)
  • Cairiss - Wilderness (blackgaze)
  • Mastodon - Marrow Deep (prog metal)
  • Fen - Elemental Part 1 (post-black metal)

While not being Prog Metal in the strict sense (although it has really a lot in common), I discovered my love for Technical Death Metal this year, listening a lot to e.g. the classic “Death” (which are really classic stuff though, so no recent realeases at all).

But the band that got me into the subgenre in the first place was “Art|Est”, which debuted in 2026.
And their released stuff is really not bad for a newcomer.
