Do you not tab-complete your commands?
Sure I do (although nowadays Strg-r does most of the heavy lifting for me), but as a decent touch-typist I am often faster directly typing short commands, like passwor… damn, I mean: passwd ;-)

Ok, I searched the term Chipocalypse and found a bunch of trustworthy news sites stating it is real.
What. The. Fuck.
This is so unhingened that I am completely lost just now.
l have already seen this under another post and decided for myself that this is definitely some satirical fake because completely absurd on so many levels.
Please tell me that I’ve been right…?
You might be right.
I am German and never had a problem with pwd… The “double-you” certainly breaks some easy phonetic connections you would otherwise just make…
But the only command that I have to look up every damn time, although it has no abbreviation at all, is useradd.
Oh no, wait, I mean adduser!
… No, wait again… aah…
Now this looks like an interesting read. Thanks!
On a side note:
I hate it that the password-change command is minimally abbreviated to “passwd”.
Come on, making it much more complicated to remember and saving just two freakin letters??
Great.
Next stage in the enshitification-process. 😒
Flooding the system with false hints… that is a brillant idea!
l think you are right… Damn fisheye effect!
Although, judging from the picture, they seem to be NOT at a 90° angle.
Would personally classify this as “mildly infuriating” ;-)
l remember that some major German packet services recently completely stopped delivery to the US (I think it was DHL) until tarif chaos has cleared up a bit. But you are Canadian… maybe collateral damage… Which packet service did you choose?
Depending on the age of the EEE, you might run into problems because the old low end CPU doesn’t support instruction set extensions that are assumed to be present by distros nowadays. I think it was SSE2…?
Yes, as it basically is just foreign, untrustworthy Code executed on your own PC.
But total blocking will make most of the web unusable.
I use a selective Script blocker extension (Noscript), that lets you instead choose which domains are allowed to use Javascript.
Works great after the initial try-and-error setup phase.
Wouldn’t that not just be British spelling meaning the same and coming with the same ambiguity?
Well, anyway, better stay away from high level electrostatic fields, just to be on the safe side! ;-)
That is great news! Workers unite!
Although I actually came here to tell what a strange word “unionized” is.
I am an engineer and at first I was like “They have WHAT???”
Took me some moments and actually reading the article to figure it out. :-)
No, I am the guy that just a few weeks ago got told that he can’t open the window of the joint staircases anymore to let out the stale summer heat, because then the pigeons would fly in.
I am the guy that can’t use the easternmost quarter of his balcony any more because it is constantly covered under shit from the pigeon-meeting-place above.
I am the guy whose car is covered in off-colour smudges because the pidgeon-piss from the tree above has corroded the paint.
I am pretty sure that most of the people here that like pidgeons would think completely different when they had to live with them in close quarters and have their quality of live noticeably reduced.
Other birds are great, though! We have sparrows, tits, blackbirds, dozens of other types. All great!
Occasionally a pair of crows is visiting. Those are impressive birds! Intelligent as fuck, don’t give a shit but stay out of your way if you don’t want to interact. And, double Bingo: the pigeons don’t like them!
Only problem is, we are by now in a technological position that the next collapse has a decent chance of being our last collapse.
I guess this also must be an additional layer of hellfire for dyslexics…
