It’s good to know our own history and also so we don’t mistakenly applaud fascists in our parliament again, or if they want to run for public offices, or pass regressive bylaws, or if their descendants are part of certain separatist movements.
That’s why this is specific to war criminals.
I don’t have a horse in this race, but “sins of our fathers” is a pretty problematic argument for tracking/flagging someone imo.
Are any of these people even still alive?
I feel like being part of a supremacist movement today becomes the sins of the individual rather than the father, and unfortunately, Canada has a few of those around at the moment.
And, yes, they can be alive today. Our MPs unknowingly applauded a Nazi collaborator in Parliament a couple of years back.
