    queerness should preclude military service for the hegemonic empire. if the USA were kurdistan, i’d consider a nuanced view. since we live under pax americana (whatever that’s worth), no one who is queer should be anywhere near it’s military.

      I mean that’s easy enough to say. However, a lot of trans people wouldn’t have had access to the medical needs for their transitions without having served in the military. Those benefits go a long way. Many would have had no other options to be able to pursue their transition.

        what i’m reading is that being joining the military as a trans person is a hack to get medical care. that’s universally true; a lot of poor people have considered joining the military for healthcare (and other) benefits.

        but queerness is axiomatically incompatible with the US military.

        it sux, for ppl who were counting on it, that the option is gone. i’m sympathetic. but, like, fuck the pentagon.
