If Toyota goes insane tomorrow, my car will still drive just like it did before, and the mechanic down the street can fix it. Not so with Tesla, and the risk of them going insane is quite a bit higher.

I have seen a gas tank explode. I have never seen a lithium battery fire but I doubt it is anything near as impressive as a fire reaching 10 gallons of gasoline.
Anything that requires snaps can stay well away from my system, as I’ve never had good experiences with them compared to real packages (or even flatpaks, which seem to solve the problem snaps are trying to solve without being awful).
One difference is that ICE cars don’t have to be fixed at the dealership. I have a Toyota. I’ve never taken it to a Toyota dealership – the independent mechanic down the road with the very nice dachshund shop dog will take care of it.
