I think some sort of sync capabilities is almost a must have now a days. My impression is that only power users use RSS and they usually have several devices, at least a computer and a phone.

Who doesn’t have a dedicated toilet tablet for browsing RSS and registering poop quality, both very dependent on sync capabilities?

I run NC News. It’s in no way comparable to FreshRSS and have like only the official companion app for mobile use beyond the web interface.

The main benefit is that it’s not another platform to run on one’s server. On my big server I’ve integrated two FreshRSS’s (one for text, one for video) into Nextcloud through iFrames, on my home hosted Raspberry I just wanted something simple that didn’t require reverse proxies and other advanced setup. Thus NC News.

There used to be a couple but they didn’t seen to be too well maintained the last time I checked. But to be fair, it’s a niche implementation of what at this point is a niche internet tech.

As soon as open source hardware is practically available I’m never using proprietary processors ever again, I don’t care if they’re “underpowered” by computational power - All backdoored CPU’s are underpowered by my standards to verified non-backdoored CPU’s.

You pay more when using these types of software than if you hired an engineer to set up a complete forum ecosystem. Just not with money.

I’m more into audio assets, but on that side AI has really impressed me. I don’t know how it works with the ethics involved in the production of the systems themselves, but I run training on my own engineered soundsamples to train the AI to reproduce specific voices. Makes it really easy to know where that part of the output comes from - 100% my stuff.

I have done some pondering:

If people were chihuahuas, wouldn’t they be the size of a chihuahua - seeing they ARE chihuahuas? Same thing if people were the size of chihuahuas. Coyotes might be 25 feet tall in comparison, if we scaled down feet to… well, paws. To be honest, the only close scenario I can envision where we’re talking about 25 feet of coyote would be if all canines were enlarged to the point where chihuahuas were the size of humans.

And at that point I’d even worry about the chihuahua!
