People have woken up to the fact that it’ll take you many years to recoup your costs of an EV trying to save money on gas. By that time you’ll need a new battery which is a big expense. I think people are also more aware of the slave labor used to mine the minerals for the batteries and how much pollution is caused by mining. Plus, sitting at a charger for 45 min when it takes 5 minutes to fill up isn’t practical for most people. We will never have the power grid to get rid of ICE vehicles completely. Also, even if we spent trillions of dollars fighting “climate change” and climate activists did everything they want to reduce carbon emissions, it will still only decrease it to be an extremely small fraction. Not enough to make it worth it.
