Beautiful. My cherry is a late bloomer, so it is still doing it’s dead stick impersonation. I spent the morning weeding around it, and have given it a good feed of manure pellets and layer of mulch so hopefully it will appreciate it and grow well this year.

I’d say it has. I rarely buy it because I make my own, but we had some at work a couple of days ago and I thought exactly the same thing. It checked the ingredients, it’s down to 40% fruit, and had a mysterious “gelling agent” added as well as pectin. It was ok, but the texture was more like a gelatin based jelly. Shrinkflation where they reduce the quality instead of the pack size.

Is there something you might have got up to do while planning? Like checking if you had a tin of tomatoes or something, and you put the notebook in the cupboard or somewhere nearby? I usually find lost things in places like that, or near the front door because I had to open it while it was in my hand and I put it down and forgot.

I was out so early this morning I copped a spiderweb to the face.

I didn’t catch a worm, but I did get a loaf of white bread and may have already eaten four slices.

Tell him it could be worse. I ate an entire tuna sandwich in front of Miss Meow yesterday without sharing. She was outraged.

Miss Meow has just demonstrated her hunting prowess by tracking down and overpowering an apple core Mr Woof declined to eat earlier in the day. Who says pets need expensive toys?

Nothing too dramatic flavour wise. It has turkey mince, tomato paste, chopped garlic, onion & parsley, eggs and breadcrumbs, plus some chopped dried mushrooms and a tsp of gelatine (helps with moisture & mouthfeel). I did a glaze on top of cranberry sauce.

Well done! I managed my Bunnings trip with no extras, and have been reminded why I generally avoid the place on weekends - especially ones with nice weather. Place was chaotic.

My morning tea just tried to kill me. Apparently shoving the whole last section into my mouth was not a good idea. The icing on top stuck the whole thing to the roof of my mouth like denture paste, leaving me with a solidly stuck hunk of bread completely out of reach of any chewing. Fortunately after much effort I managed to move it as clawing a mass of bread and icing out of my mouth in the middle of my work break room would have been a touch embarrasing.

That’s the basic plan. My normal run is some mulch and manure, straight in & out with no deviations. The danger here is the plants. They keep them with all of these other plants I will have to look through to find what I’m after. The temptation will be real.

ew. Fortunately I don’t have that indignity in the middle of the night.

Shopping list for Bunnings done. Mulch, rosemary, peppermint and Vietnamese mint. What are the chances I will get just those things and not anything extra?

Miss Meow’s preferred night time annoyance is to lie on my shoulder and purr loudly directly into my ear. It’s amazing just how loud a purr can be at that close range.

I got a bit of planting done today, and got my potting area & indoor growing area sorted out so I’m properly ready to do more. LED grow lights are so cheap and efficient these days, it makes it feasible to raise a lot of plants indoors. I’ve had some herbs growing over winter, and have a couple of shelves with varying lights and a heat mat for the summer seedlings. I added a couple of fans today for air circulation and to stop too much heat building up around the lights. It can get a bit too bright because it is open shelves, so I have put a curtain around it with a forest print which cuts the light and looks quite nice. Now I just need to get the garden beds outdoors done so I have somewhere to put all the plants once they are ready.

The kinetic sculpture I bought from Temu has been installed. It looks pretty good - it’s right in front of where I sit in the lounge room, and is much better to look at than the eyesore of a broken weather station that was in that position. Hopefully it lasts ok, it was pretty cheap.

I have considered lobbing a few into my neighbour’s back garden (which is basically abandoned), but I’m not sure they would get enough sun or be able to compete with the weed growth.

I have a great cotton doona for summer. Heavy enough I feel covered up but not much warmth. It also has some blue green focussed covers to make it seem even cooler.

Miss Meow seems to appreciate having the door open, even if it is barred so she can’t go out.
