  • Most all .com.au sites (Repco, Sparesbox, etc) list the part with the Tinkr website says they have the HXA001 in stock.

As it’s belt driven, an easy-swap out/replace. Maybe a local mechanic will do you a solid if you’re not handy.

A dodgey alternator is a not something you can get buy on, the risk of it not starting at anytime is pretty high.

  • I had to look it up, but the Parkway looks like a lot of fun… and self drive vaca in one through SE Australia is trip of a lifetime. Came out of same plant as my 5.

Fortunately, alternators are usually quite generic, repairable, with few OEMs. The hard part is finding an old school mechanic to help, not just a part salesperson searching an old part code.

  • > There’s also the Mazda5, which has fully independent suspension front and rear, light for a van, and has fantastic utility. I think it’s a shame that these models are gone, but few people bought them, so they we discontinued.

Oddly, my dealer couldn’t get Mazda 5 in quick enough, demand what that high here in northern VA. Though they did have three white sport M/T models for a long time.
