Why does a language have different words for different concepts?
Why does a language have different words for different concepts?
It’s an abbreviation.
Not all abbreviations are acronyms, only the ones that take the first letter from each word. Lego takes two letters from each word, so it’s not an acronym.
On a similar note, some but not all acronyms are initialisms, if they’re spoken as the letters rather than the “word” they create.
FYI, DIY, PS are all initialisms, and also acronyms, and also abbreviations. ASAP, SCUBA, and LASER are acronyms and abbreviations, but not initialisms. Lego, appt, and st are all abbreviations but neither acronyms nor initialisms.
That’s…not an acronym. That’d just be LG.
In specific applications where it is useful to consider time as a 4th spacial dimension.
So if you’re not talking about relativity, it’s probably not.
Nope, the geometry actually works out such that it doesn’t matter your distance from the mirror, only how tall the mirror is and how high it’s mounted.
A mirror that is as half as tall as your, mounted at head height, will show your white whole body regardless of how far away you are from it. TECHNICALLY, the bottom edge must be halfway between your eyes and feet, and the top edge must be halfway between your eyes and top of head.
There was a moment where Vance was hammering the word “choice” about like daycare costs or something and I really wanted Walz to say “so NOW you care about choice?”
Yeah, my father in law made some comment about “this debate is so much better than the last one” and I’m like…yeah, the word salad is replaced with Coherent English lies, but that’s not a great step up.
I liked “we don’t need Obamacare because we have legislation protecting people with preexisting conditions”
Yeah, that would be Obamacare.
I mean, apparently we’re getting hurricanes in Tennessee now, so it’s fuckin happening.
Humans.
The current western political landscape is not the first time immigrants have been a political scapegoat. This has been a recurring theme for thousands of years.
That buckler, however, is not being held correctly. You hold it as far out in front of you as possible with a stiff arm. You don’t sweep blows away like in dark souls.
Like the A in apple.
Midwestern here.
I think the fact that EVERY Midwesterner mutually shits on Ohio at any opportunity kiiiiinda makes a case that they’re Midwest also.
There are other states MORE deserving of the shit-talk, but it’s not personal and visceral the way every other Midwestern state hates Ohio.
YouTube had already gone through several eras a decade ago.
Saying that makes me want to yell at a cloud.
I can see a certain angle where it makes sense: youth/general outreach, educating people about the court system. Something a little more interactive/entertaining than CSPAN, but more real than Judge Judy.
But you throw “influencer culture” into the mix and you’ve got a disastrous recipe for The Chat influencing the outcome of cases.
And he pulled out of a mutually beneficial nuclear treaty so that he could slap a bunch of sanctions on them.
This definitely seems like the more likely explanation. There certainly is a mental/emotional hell you go through in academia, but with this y-axis being specifically about psychiatric medication… all I’m seeing is that grad students like/need Adderall.
It’s not satire, it’s 100% the reasoning that would be used in this argument. That’s the train of thought that we took towards covid.
