1 year agoI’m spoiled by my 2019 eGolf. It has the right mix of touch screen and buttons. A pleasure to drive. Its battery (uncooled) and motor tech are obsolete though; 125 miles of nominal range is only barely enough as we get into the cold season (but it IS enough for almost all of our driving).
After getting spoiled by the eGolf this summer, my SO said of her old Ford Escape: “it’s like driving a tractor”. Replacing that SUV with a comparable EV is going to be expensive.
I get the impression that the brand dealerships make less money on EVs so they push ICE sales. Then the manufacturers complain that EVs aren’t selling.
If you’re willing to shop used, or if you want to test drive a variety of EVs: I got my eGolf at a used EV specialist. They had a nice selection. There were some hybrids on the lot but most of their vehicles were EVs. The salespeople were all on team EV, which was very nice.
