Went on business travel to CA this month and decided to try driving a Tesla to see what it was like. Big mistake… coming home to my civic is painful. Coworkers told me a lot of my gripes like lack of buttons wear off after a month or so. I was already all in on electric for when my car eventually died but god, idk how long I will be able to stay ICE. Anyone else have similar experiences on test drives?
I’m spoiled by my 2019 eGolf. It has the right mix of touch screen and buttons. A pleasure to drive. Its battery (uncooled) and motor tech are obsolete though; 125 miles of nominal range is only barely enough as we get into the cold season (but it IS enough for almost all of our driving).
After getting spoiled by the eGolf this summer, my SO said of her old Ford Escape: “it’s like driving a tractor”. Replacing that SUV with a comparable EV is going to be expensive.
Mr Sr like 34k after tax credit. Cheaper total cost ownership than new escape
