I hadn’t driven it more than usual. We had oil changed end of September, it is beginning of December. The check engine light went off and we went on our way to Autozone to get a diagnostic done the next day. Then at a stop light the oil light came on and it made a sound and completely shut down. This has never happened, I usually have time, weeks even before making it to get my oil done. Is there any chance of saving my car? Should the dealership have some responsibility for this in not telling me about a leak or the laggy not going off?

Well what car is it? If you’re lucky it may have automatically shut itself down when it saw it didn’t have oil pressure, saving itself. If it doesn’t have this function, then the engine probably siezed and is done for.
