I am using an old 3rd gen AirPort Express 802.11n with gigabit ports for my switch right now, but the performance just doesn’t cut it anymore. I want something unmanaged, and with 5 ports and gigabit speed.

would agree that they are now commodity gear. In our network at a photolab with around 40 switches, I always bought what was cheapest brand name with quickest delivery. D-link - Tp-link - Trendnet - Netgear - Linksys. Never noticed any difference in lifetime or throughput performance. Pick one - any one.
