'Bout time, and needs to happen in the US yesterday.

Most of the chargers already outfit seem to use Nayax all-in-one reader modules, which are garbage when left out in weather. I"ve seen several failures, and always call them in because the network ops generally can’t see that readers have gone offline.

Coming soon: credit card readers on fast chargers that never seem to work and ultimately result in having to download an app or use a charging pass/card anyway.

If that happens the law should require providing free charging. No convenient payment, no income from charging. Watch the credit card readers magically get fixed within hours.

That’s actually the only failure I have ever personally experienced on an EA charger. I don’t know how that’s possible but the card reader wouldn’t work but the charger worked fine once initiated from my phone

I just had one at an Applegate Electric charger in CT, and it’s the only charger failure I’ve encountered. But it’s fairly common and well-reported on, as the credit card readers are often provided by a different company than the charger, and sometimes rely on unreliable cellular connections. Maybe it’s better in Belgium, idk 🤷‍♂️

Yup. Been filling gasoline using CC for over a decade, probably only once it didn’t work. Out of a thousand.

Actually this was supposed to be mandatory in all of the EU by July 2023

(Deadline was moved to July 2024)

Also note that this is only mandatory for charging stations built from then on.
